“I think I cried” — BLACKPINK’s Lisa gets candid about her first acting debut project, The White Lotus 3 set memories, & more

On August 12, 2024, BLACKPINK's Lisa got candid with ELLE USA about establishing her own company (LLOUD) to gearing up for her debut acting project with HBO. She told the magazine how she took acting classes for her role in the upcoming The White Lotus 3, which will be released in 2025.

However, she didn't reveal anything about her role in the upcoming series. The ROCKSTAR rapper shared how she cried when she got the role in the popular HBO original series. She also added that the audience will fall in love with Thailand even more after the series comes out as The White Lotus 3 was predominantly filmed in Thailand.

"I think I cried. I was with my friends, my mom’s friends, and my mom as well, but I didn’t tell them that I auditioned for it. I’m super excited and nervous because it’s my first acting project. So I was happy for a second, and then I was like, ‘Oh, wait, wait, how am I going to deliver this?"

For the unversed, 7 years after debuting under YG Entertainment as a member of BLACKPINK, Lisa ended her solo contract with the company and established her company, LLOUD, in February 2024. She released her comeback solo single, ROCKSTAR, on June 28, 2024, and is set to release another single, New Woman, with Rosalia.

Lisa talks about feeling confident lately and says "I feel more confident of what I think, and say it out loud"

The BLACKPINK star happily declared that despite having launched their respective companies, the group will continue to perform as BLACKPINK because this is their "life." Lisa then went ahead and shared about feeling confident in her skin and craft and speaking her mind through her music and projects.

"Of course, we’re continuing, for sure. We’re so proud of Blackpink, and I love Blackpink. It is not just because of our fans, it’s for ourselves. There was no doubt. This is our life." [...] "To be honest, I’m not the type who’s really good at expressing my feelings. Lately, I feel more confident of what I think, and say it out loud."

Additionally, ELLE highlighted her journey from Buriram Province of Thailand as a 13-year-old girl, who auditioned for YG Entertainment and trained under them to debut as BLACKPINK.

Later, Lisa, along with her members—Jennie, Jisoo, and Rosé—were honored with Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) by King Charles III in November 2023. They became the first K-pop act and the first non-British act to achieve this milestone.

She wrapped up her interview by answering ELLE's question about what would she tell her 13-year-old self. After looking at the ceiling for a while, Lisa said, "Let her suffer." Her response stemmed from confidence which she explained that she wouldn't change anything from her past as it is the reason that she became successful in her career.

"I’d say, ‘Let her suffer.’ I wouldn’t spoil any of this. I’d say, ‘Don’t think too much about the future. Just focus on what you’re doing right now. But don’t quit. Just don’t quit.'"
