On Friday, August 30, 2024, South Korea Judoka Huh Mimi sat for an interview with EDaily Sports for an interview at Mungyeong Indoor Gymnasium. She spoke about her win at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics and receiving a personal message from Twenty-Five Twenty-One star Nam Joo-hyuk.
Huh Mimi has previously spoken about being a fan of actor Nam Joo-hyuk in different broadcasts and interviews; the Vigilante actor acknowledged her love. The silver medalist Judoka revealed that she received a long message on Kakaotalk after the match, and this was the first time Huh Mimi spoke about it publicly.
She stated,
“I got a really long KakaoTalk message from Nam Joo-hyuk. I was so happy that I didn’t want to tell anyone. I’m saying this for the first time. He’s in the military right now, so he probably didn’t see the match, but he said he thought my efforts were really cool and that he always cheered me on.”
She further added,
“I would reply (to Nam Joo-hyuk) right away, but I couldn’t (because I was nervous). I thought about it all day and thought about it before I replied. I told him that I was a huge fan and that he was really cool and thankful. I really want to meet him.”

Huh Mimi is a Japan-born, South Korean Judoka who began her career in sports in Japan, however, she started representing South Korea to fulfill her grandmother's wish. She made headlines for being a descendant of the late Heo Seok, a national patriot before the Olympics.
Huh, Mimi won the silver medal in the 57 kg Judo competition in the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, coming second to Canadian player Christa Deguchi. She also won the bronze medal in the mixed-team event. The sportsperson was the first one to bring an Olympic medal for Judo from South Korea.
This was a significant win for Huh Mimi, as she is the first Olympic medalist in Judo after 8 years since Jeong Bo-kyeong.
According to EDaily Sports, she recently received a prize money of 33 million KRW from the Korea Judo Association for her Olympic win.
On this achievement, she stated,
“My dad paid for Waseda University’s tuition because it was so expensive, but I want to pay it first.”
On the other hand, Nam Joo-hyuk is known for his performances in K-dramas like Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo, Start-Up, Twenty-Five Twenty-One, The Bride of Habaek, and many more. Before his enlistment, he completed the filming of the K-drama Vigilante, where he played the role of Kim Ji-yong, a student at the Korean National Police University. The show aired on Disney+ in November 2023.
According to SPOTV, in June 2024, he received an offer for a role in the supernatural drama Donggung, alongside Roh Yoon-seo. Nam Joo-hyuk's agency SOOP Management stated to Star News that he received the offer and was reviewing it positively; however, nothing has been decided yet.
In other news, Nam Joo-hyuk began his military service on March 20, 2023, and was accepted into the military police force. He is part of the 32nd Division Military Police Unit, also known as the Baekryeong Unit in Geumnam-myeon. He is expected to be discharged from his national duties in September 2024.
