On October 20, 2024, BLACKPINK's Rosé talked about the meaning of her forthcoming album, Rosie, in a video shared by the media outlet Vogue through the official YouTube channel. The video was entitled 'Rosé Cooks Kimchi Fried Rice Dinner| Now Serving| Vogue. During the video, she mentioned that her upcoming album's name was Rosie because her friends and family called her Rosie. She added:
"As much as this album is kind of a reflection of I would say the past four years of my life and all the stories that I've had that I haven't ever really been able to show, all of that put into this album and I wanted everyone to feel like they were much closer to me and so that's why it's called Rosie."
BLACKPINK's Rosé stated that people were obsessed with her track APT.
On October 18, 2024, BLACKPINK's Rosé unveiled her much-anticipated track APT. in collaboration with the American singer and songwriter Bruno Mars. During her Vogue vlog, where she made Kimchi fried rice and somaek, the female artist revealed that people were obsessed with her track APT.
BLACKPINK's Rosé narrated that APT. was the name of a Korean drinking game, and she loved to play the game with her friends. BLACKPINK's Rosé stated one day, she was hanging out with her work team in the studio and proactively asked them if she could teach them some Korean drinking games. Subsequently, she started playing the game, and 'Apateu' was called the shorter version of Apartment.
The female artist went on to describe how they played. Subsequently, the following day, she realized that they should write a song, and they concluded penning down the tracks. However, when she went home, she realized that she had written a track about the drinking game and subsequently asked all the producers and songwriters to delete the record from their phones.
However, after some time, BLACKPINK's Rosé asked the people to listen to the track, and they became obsessed with APT. The producers and songwriters along with female artists, concluded the track. She also referred to 2024 as the year of her album and added:
"I was born in New Zealand, and I moved to Australia when I was eight years old. Took an open audition amongst 1000 other contestants who are dying to be a K-pop star. I trained for four years, and then at the end of four years, I was 20, and I came out as BLACKPINK, wait, I guess 19 in American age doing BLACKPINK for eight years, and I'm still doing it, but this is the year of my album."
She further stated that if the fans listen to the forthcoming album Rosie from top to bottom, they would know 80% of the lyrics by heart and might refer to her as Rosie. BLACKPINK's Rosé further stated how she cried at her meeting where she talked about her album and mentioned:
"So this morning, I actually had my very first meeting. It was like offline. And I was really shocked because that was the first time I was talking about the album coming out. And to my surprise, I actually cried, and I was like, why am I crying? And I made the best, and I was like, this is happy tears, by the way. I'm not sad in any type of way. I'm really, really happy."
BLACKPINK's Rosé added that the album Rosie was very personal to her and was a long journey. The female artist added that it was not easy because she was trying to be independent while writing the album. She stated that she wanted to navigate the succeeding chapters of her life. The female artist added that working on her music in a studio was the happiest moment of her life, and she would not want to be anywhere else. She added:
"I remember being in the studio when I recorded for the first time. I was like, oh my God, I wanna do this for the rest of my life. It was like my own personal like therapy session basically, but I really cannot wait for my fans to listen to my music and feel that much closer to me because it really is like, it's a lot of my personality that my friends and family know."
Rosie is slated to release on December 6, 2024, through The Black Label and The Atlantic Records.
