Love in the Big City is set to be released on October 21, 2024, on TVING and Viki globally. The drama stars Nam Yoon-su, known for The King's Affection, alongside Kwon Hyuk, Na Hyun-woo, and All of Us Are Dead's Jin Ho-eun. Meanwhile, the lead cast appeared in the latest interview by Allure Korea, where they talked about the drama and more.

Nam Yoon-su teases that the drama will have thrilling scenes and several kiss scenes between him and other male co-stars. Nam Yoon-su promised his fans in the Allure Korea interview, published on October 20, 2024, that if their K-drama tops the viewership rankings worldwide, he will give free hugs to 1,000 fans.

“I thought about it, and if my co-stars and I reach number one in (OTT) viewership ratings, I will give free hugs to 1,000 people.”

The forthcoming series is a drama adaptation of the latest Korean film by the same name, starring Kim Go-eun and Pachinko star Noh Sang-hyun. The movie was released across South Korean theatres on October 8, 2024.

The upcoming K-drama, Love in the Big City, starring Nam Yoon-su as Go-young, a closeted gay man. He shares a house with his female roommate, Mi-ae. The drama focuses on the journey of personal growth and identity of Go-young. The drama will be narrated through Mi-ae's (Lee Soo-kyung) eyes, who is a straight woman.

Love in the Big City will showcase Go-young's intense struggle with his mother, who couldn't accept his s*xuality and gender orientation. He embarks on an impromptu trip to Thailand in search of himself and meets different people. He falls in love with them at different periods in his life, which further weaves the intricacies of his personality.

The drama will have eight episodes with an approximate runtime of 50 minutes each. Kwon Hyuk, Na Hyun-woo, and Jin Ho-eun play the love interests of Nam Yoon-su's character Go-young in the series. The drama is directed by Heo Jin-ho, Hong Ji-young, Son Taek-yeom, and Kim Se-in.

Both the film and the forthcoming drama are based on Park Sang-young's bestselling novel of the same name. The novel was translated into English in 2021 by Anton Hur— who translated BTS' biography Beyond the Story: 10-Year Record of BTS. Park Sang-young's Love in the Big City was longlisted for the International Booker Prize in 2022.


Love in the Big City will be available for streaming on the OTT platform, Rakuten Viki, in selected regions.
