BTS' Park Jimin released his second solo album, MUSE, along with the music video for the title track, WHO, on July 19, 2024. The Grammy-nominated musician delighted fans with the melancholy trombone and jazzy beats of WHO.
The album featured a blend of hip-hop, orchestral elements, and irregular beats, a style also present in his debut solo album, FACE, which received acclaim from music listeners worldwide.
The latest MV showcased the idol singing and dancing at night in a dimly lit street with neon-lit signboards flashing over a few stores. The singer-songwriter glided seamlessly on the street, grooving with the background dancers as cars crashed around him, a billboard fell, and a tornado swept in.
However, astute fans observed and claimed they saw BTS' Kim Taehyung's face on the fallen billboard. Fans flooded social media with their speculations as they conjectured a forthcoming collaboration song between Jimin and Taehyung. One fan wrote on X:
"IS THAT TAEHYUNG??? IS THIS A SPOILER ANNOUNCEMENT FOR HIS PROJECT?"
The video clip quickly went viral, with fans connecting the billboard to Taehyung's black-and-white photoshoot from 2023, which has long perplexed them. Several X users commented:
"1. That's DEFINITELY taehyung's eyes damn. 2. Jimin did a V SIGN with the caption " watch the video till the end to not miss anything." WE ARE GETTING A VMIN SONG YALL," one fan wrote.
"WAIT .... the billboard looks like taehyungs random black and white 'photoshoot' .... please let this be a romantic vmin collab (called bliss .. ??)" another fan wrote.
"The “Bliss” sign in the mv being the only one that doesn’t have the name of a track on it…." another fan added.
"Why does this poster remind me of the b&w pics tae shared on insta in that black fur coat with like cuts & bleeding on his forehead," one other fan commented.
Fans also speculated if the MUSE singer-songwriter was hinting at a future collaboration with Taehyung through billboard:
"AND IT SAID KEEP GOING?!?!ARE WE ALSO GETTING A NEW ALBUM FROM TAE," another fan said.
"Tae is his muse? Next project of tae? Song/video with tae? Or r we all just collectively seeing this in our minds?" one fan wrote.
"That's taehyung. I know we're closer enough to get vmin for another collab, jimin my love you need release that hidden track," another fan added.
BTS Jimin’s ‘WHO’ MV TikTok challenge with 7 dancers delights fans
In the official MV for WHO, Jimin is seen dancing with six other male dancers, making a total of seven. This reminded fans of BTS, and the members included this reference in their solo albums. For instance, Min Yoongi, aka SUGA, featured seven male dancers in his performance video on Haegeum, and Jungkook's SEVEN performance video had the same equation.
Other BTS members like j-hope, Taehyung aka V, Jin, and Namjoon aka RM have also added references to their group in their solo projects. Fans have often lauded the members for their thoughtful inclusion of BTS even in their solo projects.
Meanwhile, BTS' Jimin dropped a TikTok dance video challenge on Instagram for WHO, which also featured seven male dancers, including himself. BIGHIT MUSIC posted it on its X account and encouraged fans to join the TikTok challenge. The company also announced an exclusive MUSE profile frame on TikTok, accessible by searching the keywords "Jimin" or "BTS."
MUSE includes seven tracks: WHO, Rebirth: INTRO, INTERLUDE: SHOWTIME, Smeraldo Garden Marching Band (feat. LOCO), Be Mine, SLOW DANCE (feat. Sofia Carson), and Closer Than This.
