On September 14, 2024, BTS' Jungkook stirred the internet after posting two consecutive photos of Bam (his pet dog) on Instagram with captions reportedly hinting at the ongoing HYBE and Min Hee-jin's feud. The caption on the first post was,
"Artists are not guilty."
NewJeans fans assumed that the first post caption was the BTS singer showing his support for the rookie girl group and Min Hee-jin. Meanwhile, a few minutes later, Jungkook posted the second photo with the caption:
"Don't use them."
This comes after NewJeans held a YouTube livestream on September 11, 2024, demanding HYBE to reinstate Min Hee-jin as ADOR's CEO. NewJeans stated that they don't accept Kim Joo-young as the new CEO.
Netizens were abuzz with the happenings in the K-pop world, and several fans were initially confused about the BTS singer's first post. Owing to the significant post, several theories on Jungkook's intentions were made.
One netizen wrote under the Instagram post,
"Jungkook is this for yoongi or for newjeans?? Can explain pls?? anyone."
Several netizens expressed their disbelief in the BTS singer voicing his opinion on the ongoing situation. Some speculated that the official Instagram account of his pet dog, Bam, was hacked.
"Some loop holes of the post - 1. He doesn't write msg in English. 2. He stays away from any controversial matter. 3. The article came out in seconds just after bam's post. 4. Bam can't type [ most important point ]," one X user made light of the situation.
"Even if he wanted, he would've said on weverse because we all know he convey messages through weverse. BAM' ACC IS HACKED!!," another netizen commented.
"I feel like it was planned to throw his name in the issue as some sort of ‘statement’," another netizen claimed.
Some netizens stated that the BTS singer was voicing his opinion in support of rookie groups like LE SSERAFIM, IILIT, and NewJeans, who are getting dragged into the feud.
"Just try to UNDERSTAND Jungkook's side, it's not about defending Mhj. It's about supporting the artists (like LE SSERAFIM, NewJeans, etc.) who are getting affected by this situation," one netizens wrote.
"Even if he wanted, he would've said it on weverse and in korean, not in english. i know he's fluent in english, but THIS IS JUST SUS AF," another netizen added.
"Agree with everything he says! NewJeans shouldn’t be dragged into the internal disputes. They are just being used for the benefits of other parties involved," one other netizen wrote.
HYBE confirms BTS' Jungkook posted on Instagram to ask Min Hee-jin to stop using NewJeans as a shield
South Korean media outlet My Daily reported on September 14 that HYBE confirmed that Jungkook's posts were about requesting Min Hee-jin to refrain from dragging NewJeans into the ongoing feud between her and HYBE.
The company said,
"We have confirmed that he posted it because he thought that under no circumstances should a young artist be dragged into a dispute and used as a shield."
On August 28, 2024, ADOR's board of directors dismissed Min Hee-jin as the label's CEO and appointed Kim Joo-young as the new CEO. For the unversed, ADOR is a subsidiary label under HYBE, and the latter owns 80% shares of ADOR.
HYBE reportedly offered Min Hee-jin to be the in-house creative director for ADOR's NewJeans till November 2024. Min Hee-jin refused to sign the contract.
