On Tuesday, June 10, EXO Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin's agency, INB100, released a statement in response to SM Entertainment's statements at their recent emergency press conference. SM Entertainment had previously accused the former agency of tampering of their artists via MC Mong and Chaga One.
In the statement, INB100 reportedly called out SM Entertainment for making petty excuses and stating that the three EXO members failed to meet the agreements signed between the two agencies. Additionally, the agency also asked SM Entertainment to expand on their tampering allegations against EXO CBX and their agency.
Regardless, they also explained they will be taking legal action against SM Entertainment for their tampering claims, along with other issues such as civil and criminal charges of defamation of the EXO members and the spread of false information. The statement read,
"We apologize to Chairman Cha Ga-won and CEO Shin Dong-hyun for SM once again making tampering claims and request that SM disclose its standards for tampering."
The agency continued,
"We will also take strong legal action against SM for the tampering claims, including civil and criminal charges for defamation and the spread of false information. It just seems petty now that a large company such as SM forgets the main issue and nitpicks other things."
INB100, the agency of EXO CBX, responded to SM Entertainment's statement on tampering claims
INB100 responded to SM Entertainment's statement that EXO CBX's agency allegedly tampered the members. The agency called out SM for accusing that their own artists of tampering and also questioned SM on what grounds they claimed the members' actions as such.
"SM is not qualified as an entertainment agency as it is framing its own artists, EXO-CBX, as tampering. EXO-CBX has given up the exclusive contract fee in order to continue EXO activities with SM Entertainment. With today’s press conference, we are demanding once again from SM Entertainment."
They continued,
"We demand SM to clearly state the grounds for what is considered tampering. Is it considered tampering when artists receive advice and counseling from acquaintances, seniors, juniors, and colleagues?"
On July 10, the executives of INB100 held an emergency press conference, stating that the three EXO members had been mistreated by SM Entertainment. They stated that Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin, after terminating their individual contracts with the agency, made negotiations to settle their disagreements.
However, SM Entertainment still demanded 10% of individual artist sales that they gained through their solo projects through an external agency. The EXO members decided to settle on 5.5% instead in order to protect EXO and their fans. Moreover, SM also allegedly urged the members to renew their contracts during their military services.
INB100 sent a few pieces of evidence expressing SM Entertainment's unfair treatment and demands from the EXO members. However, even after two months, there has been no response from the agency; INB100 decided to make the issue public through an emergency press conference. However, SM Entertainment soon responded to the same.
They explained that the 10% was agreed upon during an agreement, and it is a demand that they can, therefore, rightfully make. Hence, SM Entertainment expressed that they will be taking legal action against EXO's Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin for allegedly not cooperating and going against their agreement.
INB100 was established by Baekhyun in June 2022.
