Culinary Class Wars chef Jung Ji-sun spoke about the appearance fees on the Netflix cooking competition series. On October 21, Jung Ji-sun appeared on KBS Cool FM's Park Myung-soo's Radio Show sharing anecdotes from Culinary Class Wars and how her participation in the show has increased the visitors to her restaurant in Seoul, South Korea.
Chef Jung Ji-sun stated that due to her busy schedule, she had first declined to appear on the Netflix show, but later she decided to participate as this would become a driving force and motivation for her restaurant staff.
“At first, I declined because my schedule didn't match up, but as time passed, I became interested, and I thought it would motivate the staff, so I decided to appear,” she shared.
While talking about the appearance fees of the show, she did not reveal the exact numbers but said it was a regular payment. She said,
“Many people were curious about the appearance fee for ‘Culinary Class Wars. It was just the basic level.”
When the radio show host Park Myung-soo asked her if the payment was around 1-2 million KRW, Jung Ji-sun denied it saying,
“It's not even that much.”

Culinary Class Wars was a cooking competition series released on Netflix with the similar format of Physical: 100 where 100 contestants compete to earn the show title. In the cooking competition 80 Black Spoon Chefs and 20 White Spoon Chefs, go against each other to win the show title and bag the prize money of 300 million KRW.
Chef Jung Ji-sun was a White Spoon Chef, who is widely known as the Queen of Dim Sum and is well versed in the Chinese Culinary scene. She graduated from the Yangzhou University’s Department of Culinary Arts in China and after making her name in the industry, she has published several books and appeared on TV shows, according to Korea JoongAng Daily.
She runs a Chinese restaurant named Tian Mimi in the neighborhoods of Gangnam and Hongdae, Seoul, South Korea. Jung Ji-sun made it to the Top 8 of Culinary Class Wars contestants before her elimination.
On KBS Cool FM's Park Myung-soo’s Radio Show, she revealed that she has witnessed a rise in the number of visitors to Tian Mimi, in particular foreign visitors from Hong Kong and Taiwan. She said,
“After ‘Culinary Class Wars', more and more people recognized me. It's amazing to see the Hongdae store crowded with customers from Taiwan and Hong Kong.”
Chef Jung Ji-sun also shared her plans to expand her restaurants in other parts of the city as the reservations at the restaurants have risen to three times the usual numbers. However, she pointed out the difficulties in looking for new employees to set up more stores.
“Reservations at the store have increased by about three times. It is difficult to hire employees, so we plan to open additional stores once we have more employees,” she revealed.
