As of September 10, 2024, BTS members RM, Taehyung (V), Jungkook, and Jimin have reached the halfway mark of their military service in South Korea. The milestone was confirmed through the Goondori app, a widely used tool for tracking military service in South Korea.

The four idols started their mandatory military duty in December 2023, committing to approximately eighteen months of service. RM and Taehyung enlisted on December 11, 2023, while Jungkook and Jimin joined the following day, becoming the final members of BTS to begin their military duties.

Fans took to social media to celebrate this significant progress, anticipating their quick return in 2025. A user on X wrote,

"Unbelievable we made it through to 50%...I know ARMY is has been a tough battle-with enemies on all sides....I just want to thank you for staying strong and continuing to support BTS," a fan commented.

Fans eagerly pointed out that June 2025 is approaching, the month when all BTS members will complete their military service and reunite as a group. The excitement builds as the date draws nearer, with anticipation growing for their full return to the spotlight.

"We’re nearing the final stages of “WE’RE SO BACK”," a person remarked.
"ITS GONNA BE SO WORTH THE WAIT GUYS WE'VE GOT THIS,"a fan commented.

More military updates of all BTS members

As per the latest update through Goondori, on September 1, 2024, BTS members Jungkook, Jimin, and Taehyung had been promoted to Corporal in the South Korean military. All four members, including RM, had previously attained the rank of Private First Class by March. In August, group leader RM updated fans about his promotion by sharing a screenshot from his military app.

Meanwhile, Jin, the eldest BTS member, completed his military service and was officially discharged in June, whereas Suga continues to serve in a non-combat role as a Social Service Agent due to a shoulder injury.

Fans are now anticipating J-hope’s discharge, who has been serving as a drill instructor at the Baekho Recruit Training Center. The rapper-dancer was last seen attending a recruit completion ceremony.

RM and V, who enlisted on 11 December 2023, continue to progress in their military duties. RM was recently promoted to Corporal and participated in the Hwacheon Tomato Festival with his 15th Division military band. V, part of the Special Duty Team (SDT), underwent intensive training and took part in the 2024 Ulchi Exercise Implementation, before being reassigned to ROK II Corps.

Jungkook and Jimin, who enlisted a day later on 12 December 2023, are now serving in the 5th Infantry Division.

Jin, the only member of the septet who has completed his military service, is currently gearing up for his solo debut album, which is set to be released in the latter half of 2024.
