On Thursday, October 31, the K-pop soloist G-DRAGON released his latest single, POWER, along with its music video. Given that the song was his first solo release after a seven-year hiatus, fans grandly celebrated the release. However, as people watched the music video for POWER, they couldn't help but speculate that the idol might have included a few references in the same.

People noted that several aspects of the music video, like the police car, the glasses, the "Breaking News" scenes in the broadcasting room, etc., alluded to the idol's police investigation in December last year. The idol was investigated due to drug abuse allegations, which were later found to be false.

Regardless, the clips and videos of the idol at the police station went viral, and the specific glasses he wore to the investigation, which were almost sold out, also appeared in the POWER music video. While there has been no confirmation regarding these fan-made theories, fans were still thrilled and happy about these references.

Since the idol was falsely accused, netizens are happy to see him subtly reference his appearance for the police investigations. Some also think that the idol might be dissing or calling out the media outlets for actions and reports. Here are a few fan reactions to G-DRAGON's POWER music video and its possible references:

"It's going to be so fun seeing fans dissect and interpret the MV and lyrics. It's just dripping with his genius."

All you need to know about G-DRAGON's recent solo activities

G-DRAGON started his career under YG Entertainment as a BIG BANG member in 2006. As the rapper continued to excel in his group activities, G-DRAGON also started his solo career in 2009 with the release of his studio debut album, Heartbreaker.

He followed this up with another album release, Coup d'Etat, in 2013. However, he was soon seen taking a hiatus from his solo activities. After four years, he released an EP called Kwon Ji Yong in June 2017. The EP broke several records, selling over a million copies in just six days on the Chinese music platform QQ Music, making G-DRAGON the fastest artist to achieve the goal.

He also made history on the Billboard World Albums chart as his album became the best-selling and the first album by a Korean soloist to ever rank in the top ranks of the chart. After the success Kwon Ji Yong saw, the idol went on another hiatus for seven years until the release of his latest single, POWER.

On the other hand, for the promotion of the single, the idol appeared on tvN’s You Quiz On The Block, and this was his first variety show appearance after a long time. During the same, the idol also addressed the police investigations last year. Here's what he said:

"I couldn’t move forward, and there was a wall behind me. I forced myself to stay centered because if I became exhausted mentally, I would think about dangerous things. But now, time has passed, and my mind has cleared.”

While fans were concerned about G-DRAGON, they were happy to learn that the idol is better now and is slowly coming out of the depressive state the allegations might've put him under. Regardless, fans are also thrilled to see what the idol's solo career has in store for them in the coming days.
