On December 16, BTS' Jin’s new liquor brand, IGIN, opened for pre-orders. The BTS member started the business with his longtime friend, celebrity chef Baek Jong-won. Following these pre-orders from December 16 to December 19, the opening of BTS' Jin’s IGIN will be celebrated with a grand event, scheduled from December 20 until December 24.

The information regarding these celebratory events was disseminated through IGIN’s social media page. Seeing this, BTS' Jin’s fans noted that his agency, BigHit Music, offered no reaction or shared no details about their artist’s latest endeavor.

The purported silence of BigHit Music regarding Jin's liquor brand has ignited an online discourse, with some fans questioning the agency's silence, while others expressed their opinions on the issue. One of them commented:

“Because it's personal business, I guess”

Many other gave mixed responses on the matter.

“Why neither Jin nor bighit said anything about IGIN ? I feel like more than half of the fandom doesn’t even know about it yet,” a fan stated.
“Ikrr Im waiting for him to announce officially,” wrote an admirer.
“It's not BH area to announce, and members always do their own things without any large noise. So it's understandable,” remarked another fan.
“Probably because it is outside of big hit and it’s solely his venture.. could be wrong.. that’s how I’m seeing it though,” commented one X user.

Some fans further stated that IGIN wasn’t sponsored by BigHit Music.

“Bighit doesn't have to say anything on that. It's his personal business, not sponsored by the company,” wrote another fan.
“I'm not sure Bighit would say anything though since it's Jin's personal quest with his chef friend. The actual question should be why CEO Jin hasn't said anything,” another fan stated.
“You know what I think? Maybe JIN is being copyrighted by BIGHIT so Jin comes up with IGIN, GIN and JIN kind resembled so, he can market this one without copyright strikes with all of its merch profits directly goes to his pocket! Kinda JIN-ius of JIN!,” a netizen commented.

BTS' Jin and Chef Baek Jong-won’s IGIN caused app failure due to high demand following its launch

Kim Seokjin and Culinary Class Wars’ judge Chef Baek Jong-won launched their collaborative liquor IGIN for pre-order through the GS25 convenience store app.

Shortly after the commencement of pre-orders, the application's servers experienced a failure throughout Korea. Moreover, the liquor rapidly became unavailable following its launch.

Reports indicate that BTS' Jin and chef Baek Jong-won have partnered to create IGIN, a traditional Korean liquor. It is produced from locally grown high-sugar apples from Baek Jong-won's hometown of Yesan and has generated considerable interest, especially among BTS enthusiasts.

The launch of IGIN will be celebrated with a grand event in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, from December 20 to December 24, 2024, following the pre-orders.

The pop-up shop will operate from 1 pm to 8 pm at 13 Yeonmujang 11-gil, Seongdong-gu.
