On December 11, tvN's chat show You Quiz On The Block shared another short preview for its upcoming episode on YouTube, with BLACKPINK's Rosé as the guest. This latest clip came after the previous preview video with the idol, released on November 28.
During her interaction, as seen in the new clip, the toxic till the end vocalist revealed that the American musician Bruno Mars was supposed to join her for the You Quiz On The Block episode, but he couldn’t attend due to his visa issues.
BLACKPINK's Rosé went on to explain how she had convinced him to come on the show, saying:
“I actually invited him to come here, and he said yes... So, we were really looking forward to it...”
Fans were seemingly saddened to find out BLACKPINK's Rosé and Bruno Mars, who featured together in the recent hit single APT., were unable to attend the show as a duo. Expressing this disappointment, one user on X wrote:
“Man it would've been so funny if Bruno was there.”
Several other mixed responses were seen online. While many said the episode would have been amazing with Bruno’s appearance, others hoped for their collab in the future.
“That's such a bummer! the Libra Bruno Mars would have been amazing on 'You Quiz on the Block.' Hopefully, we get to see him there in the future!” wrote a fan.
“Such a bummer! Would've loved to see Bruno on 'You Quiz'. Hopefully, they get to collab in person soon!” commented another fan.
“Aww, Rosé really went above and beyond for this! Bruno, we're waiting for you, visa or no visa! Rosé's dedication to the fans and to bringing us this epic moment is just heartwarming. Here's hoping for a successful visa fix soon!” stated an admirer.
One user appreciated Rosé for being Bruno’s biggest cheerleader, while others expressed disappointment over the missed opportunity.
“This is so sweet. Rosé being Bruno’s biggest cheerleader and practically his manager is adorable. You can tell how much she cares about her fans and Bruno too. I really hope he gets to come to Korea someday, but even if it’s just a video message, it’s clear how much effort he’s putting in for everyone. Rosé’s persuasion skills are unmatched!” stated a fan.
“Omg??????? we i can’t believe we lost this one,” commented another netizen.
“That’s so unfortunate! Would’ve been fun to see them together,” said a fan.
BLACKPINK's Rosé revealed the story behind her collaboration with Bruno Mars on APT.
In the prior preview video of You Quiz On The Block, the K-pop artist elaborated on the creation of her famous hit single APT. The video revealed how the female idol ended up collaborating with Bruno Mars.
BLACKPINK's Rosé stated that she forwarded three songs to Bruno, despite others advising her against including APT., asserting that he would reject it. However, notwithstanding their reservations, she sent the email including APT., which later went viral globally.
APT. was the first pre-album track of BLACKPINK's Rosé’s solo album, rosie, and was released on October 18, 2024. Later, the complete twelve-track album was dropped on December 6. The duo’s track was recently honored with the Global Sensation Award at the 2024 MAMA Awards. Furthermore, APT. has already surpassed the 500 million mark on both YouTube MV and Spotify.
