On December 17, 2024, the South Korean actress and singer IU revealed the possibility of working with international artists during her exclusive interview with Billboard. She represented Billboard Korea in the first Global Billboard No.1s cover series.

During the conversation, the female artist was questioned if she had any plans to collaborate with global artists. In response, IU mentioned:

"In the past, I received many amazing offers, but the idea of collaborating with artists who spoke different languages felt daunting. I turned down those opportunities then, but I don't feel the same way anymore. Now, I'm much more open to the idea of working with global artists."

Subsequently, the female artist's response circulated on social media. The fandom could not contain their excitement and expressed their varied opinions. They mentioned they could not wait to see IU collaborating with international artists. Excitedly, an X user tweeted that the singer and Taylor Swift should partner up.

"IU SAYS SHE'S NOW OPEN TO COLLABORATE WITH INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA IS IU X TAYLOR SWIFT TOO MUCH TO ASK???"

The fandom stated that the artist might be scared as she was unaware of her substantial power. They also expressed their desire to see female artists collaborating with Western artists and sing in their regional languages. Many also suggested that she should collaborate with Post Malone.

"She was not aware of her power, she always scared for no reason and kinda belittle herself. I always felt like that. But now, she is ready? Good!" A fan reacted.
"Wish she would truly collaborate globally and sing in their local languages too...release each song monthly as well..choosing collaborators from her previous tour countries would be ideal." A fan shared.
"Post Malone bro do something about this," a fan commented.

The internet users stated they would love to see the international artists attending IU's Palette show.

"Nice.. probably start with doing Palette episodes with foreign artists, even over remote, for example with the artists she covered in the her concerts like Sunkissed Lola, Terence Lam, NONT TANONT, Accusefive.." a user reacted.
"Oh my gosh, I'd absolutely love to see that. I hope it can happen soon." A user mentioned.
"#IU said, she wants to work with global artists, and people thinking about the biggest stars. I will tell you who's going to be her first collab. / Her favorite singer: Corinne Bailey Rae! / They performed together in 2011 and IU said she loves her more than her mom." A user shared.

IU talked about what her fandom UAENA meant to her

During her exclusive interview with Billboard, IU was asked what her fandom, UAENA, meant to her. She is known for sharing a strong bond with her fans. The female artist answered that during the initial years of her career, most of her fans were older than her. These included big sisters, older brothers, uncles, and others. At the time, she was a young solo artist and felt protected. However, as she entered her mid-20s, she developed a fanbase the same age.

The female artist elaborated that those fans related to her lyrics and music as close friends. They built a mutual understanding and grew throughout the years. The female artist added:

"They resonated with my lyrics and music as peers, and we built a mutual understanding and grew together. Now, I have many younger fans, and I find myself wanting to support, encourage, and nurture them. I see UAENA and myself as having a steady, balanced relationship where we constantly exchange the best of what we can offer each other."

She also disclosed about the memorable moment she shared with her fans in the foreign country and mentioned:

"It's hard to pick just one, but Auckland [New Zealand] comes to mind. Their unique way of cheering made the entire experience unforgettable. Another standout was Jakarta [Indonesia], where the audience sang along to every song from start to finish. That level of enthusiasm left a lasting impression on me."

In recent news, the female artist has been confirmed to appear as the female protagonist in the forthcoming series When Life Gives You Tangerines alongside male actor Park Bo-gum.
