On December 10, Korean media outlet Naver reported that BTS' Jin’s debut solo album HAPPY received RIAJ’s Platinum certification for its record sales of over 250,000 units in Japan. This is BTS' Jin’s first Platinum certification as a solo artist. Earlier, his single, Astronaut, which was dropped in 2021, received the Gold certification from RIAJ.
The Recording Industry Association of Japan, known as RIAJ, is a trade organization that includes Japanese companies engaged in the music sector. The RIAJ engages in the promotion of music sales, implementation of copyright legislation, and research pertaining to the Japanese music industry.
The organization is responsible for awarding gold and platinum certification to albums and singles in Japan. The Record Industry Association Japan certifies gold discs as gold (more than 10,000 copies), platinum (more than 250,000 copies), and double-platinum (more than 500,000 copies) based on total monthly record sales.
Jin’s fans were impressed with his latest accomplishment. As a result, his followers flooded the internet with their love and support for the singer.
“Japanese fans are the best! Japan is JINation! CONGRATULATIONS JIN,” one fan tweeted.
Many other reactions from BTS’ Jin admirers were recorded online. While some referred to him as “king,” others said, "Japan is JinLand.”

On November 20, Billboard reported that HAPPY debuted at #1 on Billboard Japan's Download Albums list, with 3,986 downloads recorded from November 11 to 17. Furthermore, Kim Seokjin's album achieved the #2 position on the Billboard Japan Hot Albums Chart.
Additionally, HAPPY achieved the #2 position on the ORICON Weekly Albums Chart. The album attained this rank after selling over 219,241 copies in Japan during its inaugural week of release. BTS' Jin became the fourth Korean/K-pop solo artist in history to achieve over 200,000 album sales in Japan in the first week.
