On August 19, 2024, the Korean variety show Half-star Hotel in Lost Island, starring BTS' Kim Seok-jin, aired at 9:00 PM KST on Apple TV and Wavve. South Korean media outlet YTN reported that production director Kim Myung-jin revealed how BIGHIT MUSIC (now HYBE) approached them because the BTS idol wanted to be a part of their show.

Kim Myung-jin, the producer of the Korean show, told YTN that Jin called them before his military discharge and expressed his wish to be a part of the Half-star Hotel in Lost Island cast.

"Thankfully, Jin's agency contacted him first, saying that he wanted to appear on our program. His schedule was so tight that it wasn't easy to coordinate, but he sent us a love call before he was discharged, so the production team was able to actively prepare quickly," the producer added.

For the uninitiated, the BTS idol was discharged from the military on June 12, 2024, after serving for 18 months.

The upcoming MBC variety show is directed by Kim Myung-jin, Kim Moon-ki, Shin Hyun-bin, Lee Jun-beom, and Kim Ki-ho. It centers on Ahn Jung-hwan renovating an abandoned home on a deserted island.

It offers viewers the opportunity to experience a "0.5-star" hotel where everything is prepared by the cast. Ahn Jung-hwan, Boom, B1A4's Sandeul, and Kim Dae-ho will appear on the show along with BTS' Jin.

Producer Kim Myung-jin revealed that the BTS idol is close friends with the show's emcees, Ahn Jung-hwan and Chef Lee Yeon-bok, who were catalysts for the idol's joining Half-star Hotel in Lost Island. He added that including B1A4's Sandeul encouraged Jin to appear on the show, as the two K-pop idols are good friends.

Kim Myung-jin mentioned that the Epiphany singer-songwriter worked hard to cook and prepare everything in the show. The BTS star kept working despite the heavy rainfall during the filming.

"We filmed on June 27-28, and he was completely immersed in the unfamiliar situation of an uninhabited island, and he worked hard on cooking and hunting. It rained a lot during filming, but he filmed cheerfully without complaint even in the rain," he told YTN.

Kim Myung-jin continued by saying that despite the idol's busy schedule, as he is working on his debut solo album, Jin stayed till the end of the filming and had a get-together with the cast and crew.

Sports Seoul reported that the producer revealed BTS' Jin's hectic schedule, where he managed to sleep for two to three hours before filming. Despite being busy filming for several commercials, the BTS idol arrived on the sets of the Half-star Hotel in Lost Island for filming and did everything by himself, from gathering wood, fishing, and cooking.

"He was busy with commercial filming and various broadcast appearances, so he only slept for 2-3 hours on the filming days. He said that he worked without resting a single day because he had so much to show his fans. However, he did a good job without showing any signs of fatigue," he said.

According to Sports Seoul, the show producer stated that Jin's addition to the cast attracted global attention to the show. Several of his fans from Spain, Russia, and other countries left comments on the trailer video, showcasing the BTS idol's global influence.

Half-star Hotel in Lost Island will also be streamed on Kocowa and Twitch alongside its official release on MBC's website, Wavve (Korean OTT platform), and Apple TV.
