On Thursday, August 29, BTS’ Jungkook became the youngest K-pop idol on the top 10 of Gallup Korea’s Most Loved K-pop Solo Singer of the 21st Century survey list. Jungkook is also the highest-ranked BTS member on this list. The Seven singer was originally ranked fifth on Gallup Korea’s survey alongside other renowned artists like IU, PSY, G-Dragon, and Lee Hyori, who are placed in the top four places, respectively.

Jungkook, currently serving his obligatory term in the military, has been in the headlines lately. In a notable accomplishment, the BTS member has attained the position of the top-ranked solo artist on the Circle Social Chart 2.0 for the initial half of 2024, as of July 14. The Closer To You vocalist was ranked #4 on the chart from January 1, 2024, to June 30, 2024.

BTS’ Jungkook became one of the year’s most-winning recipients at the TOP 50 MUSIC AWARDS, announced on July 31, 2024. A total of five of the K-pop star’s accolades—Best Song and Best Collaboration for his single Seven, Best Album for GOLDEN, Best Artist, and Best Fans—fell into the International categories.


Gallup Korea’s Most Loved K-pop Solo Singer of the 21st Century survey featured IU, PSY, G-Dragon, Lee Hyori, and Jungkook on top spots

Gallup Korea, often known as Gallup Korea Research Institute, is a research firm based in South Korea. This institute is renowned for conducting public surveys on political, entertainment, sports, and social topics.

Gallup Korea recently completed a study commissioned by Korean media source Star News to determine the most beloved solo K-pop artist of the 21st century. The survey took place from August 19 to August 23 and involved 1,052 respondents aged 19 to 69 from all over South Korea.

Participants were surveyed with the question about most adored K-pop idols who started their solo careers in the 21st century (from 2000 to the present).

Here’s the rundown of the top 10 K-pop idols from Gallup Korea’s Most Loved K-pop Solo Singer of the 21st Century survey list:

  • PSY
  • G-Dragon
  • Lee Hyori
  • Jungkook
  • BoA
  • Rain
  • Taeyeon
  • Jimin
  • Jay Park

According to the results published by Star News Korea on August 29, IU secured the top position with 48 percent of the votes. Among different age categories, IU received 59 percent support from individuals aged 19-29, 48 percent from those in their 30s, 47 percent from individuals in their 40s, 49 percent from individuals in their 50s, and 40 percent from individuals in their 60s.

The ‘Gangnam Style’ maker, PSY, ranked second with a 36 percent share. The third spot is taken by G-Dragon with 23 percent, and Lee Hyori is in fourth place with 18 percent. Jungkook ranks at number 5 with a 14 percent share, followed by BoA at number 6 with 12 percent. Rain and Taeyeon from Girls’ Generation share the number 7 spot with 7 percent each. BTS’ Jimin and Jay Park tie at number 9 with 5 percent each.
