On November 1, 2024, BABYMONSTER released the music video of their much-awaited song DRIP via their official YouTube channel. Following this, the track’s performance video was dropped on November 5, 2024. In both videos, fans claimed to notice a change in BABYMONSTER's Ahyeon’s energy as she seemingly toned down her dancing amid alleged overperforming criticism.
Earlier, in July 2024, some internet users claimed that Ahyeon’s intense dancing was overshadowing other members’ performances. Some also alleged that BABYMONSTER’s Ahyeon’s dancing wasn’t cohesive with the rest of the members.
However, in her recent videos, fans claimed that her movements were smaller, and she seemed to smile less. Ahyeon’s supporters noticed this alleged shift. Consequently, her admirers flooded the internet with support while also calling out others who judged her for her dancing style. Expressing this sentiment, one user on X wrote:
“poor girl if she was giving her all they will tell her to tune it down and now they telling her she’s weak just let her be”
Many netizens expressed their support and felt sad to see BABYMONSTER's Ahyeon smile less and seemingly act differently than in the past.
“Ahyeon is fine, you guys should leave Ahyeon alone and take care of your part. Ahyeon, you just need to focus on your growth. We MONstiez will always be by your side,” commented one fan.
“Just allow her to perform how she used to & trust the other members to keep-up because THEY CAN KEEP UP. Take #2NE1 as an example, CL is a beast of a performer but she was never asked to tone it down cuz Minzy can hold her own while the 2 unnies keep them in check,” wrote another fan.
“yall are never happy with whatever she does, whether she chooses to dance with loads of energy or with little energy, yall still find a way to complain. and if she starts dancing excessively again yall are gonna start crying for her to dance “weakly” again,” another fan said.
While one fan said that people must "let her do her own thing," another complimented her, saying she is a "sweetheart with massive talents."
“It must be getting in to her head that whatever she does people will still complain. Let her do her own thing. I believe she'll overcome it with all her fan's support,” another user on X stated.
“SHUT UP and I don’t even stan the group but when she was giving her all she receive hate and now she change because of the hate they say she dance too weak,” wrote another netizen.
“she's just a sweetheart with massive talents who always try to give her 100%, but haters are always on her business, hell i feel like she got hated just for breathing. i hope her haters can f*k off and rot in hell for eternity. we love you, ahyeon. don't let them dim your light,” another fan wrote.
