On Tuesday, December 31, 2024, BH Entertainment, the agency of the Squid Game 2 actor Park Sung-hoon, released a new statement regarding his recent controversy. On December 30, 2024, the actor uploaded an explicit parody poster of Squid Game, which aimed at s*xualizing the female cast members of the Korean series.
While the post was immediately taken down, fans and netizens who got a glimpse of the same began to spread the word about it and criticize the actor. As a response to the same, his agency released a statement explaining that Sung-hoon must've accidentally uploaded the image while going through his many DMs.
However, fans found the excuse to be quite unbelievable, and the backlash towards Park Sung-hoon continued. Most recently, another statement further explaining the controversy was released by BH Entertainment. The agency stated that the image was supposedly received through his Instagram DMs.
When the actor saved it to send to his company's representative, it got accidentally posted on his Instagram stories. Here's what the statement read:
"The photo was received via DM and saved to his photo album while he was forwarding it to a company representative."
Regardless of the new explanation, netizens were still unconvinced and expressed that the actor's actions were unacceptable. One X user wrote:
"this explanation just made everything worse"
Many even stated that the excuses worsened the issue since Park Sung-hoon was not being held accountable for his recent Instagram activity.
"they said he accidentally clicked on it and it automatically got posted like make it make sense dawg," said a fan on X.
"oh bh ent., that's not the explanation that you think it is lmao this statement is totally pointless," added another fan.
"worst excuse, he still saved the pic AND wanted to share it in his dms," commented a netizen.
More fans and netizens talked about how they were displeased and angered by the actor's recent actions.
"The fact that the company said 'he listed by mistake'lplease, that's just saying 'he meant to post it on his close friends'. It's doesn't change the fact that he's disgusting," stated a fan.
"It's ironic how he's publicly acknowledging such immoral practices & there's no accountability whatsoever..." commented an X user.
"Reading this knowing that he literally plays a TRANS WOMAN in squid game is making me feel like throwing up," added a netizen.
"Park sunghoon not even on the top yet and his downfall already here, very crazy," said another X user.
