Kim Min-ha is set to star alongside Lee Jun-ho in the new tvN drama Typhoon Company, according to an exclusive report by Xports News on January 13. The series delves into the journey of a young CEO striving to save his father’s small business, Typhoon Company, during South Korea’s IMF financial crisis. It also explores the familial struggles and sacrifices that shape their lives.

Directed by Lee Na-jeong, known for Fight for My Way and Love Alarm, and written by Jang Hyun-sook, Typhoon Company is reported to be a story about growth, resilience, and family bonds. Lee Jun-ho, known for his roles in King the Land and The Red Sleeve, was the first to confirm his appearance.

Kim Min-ha to portray a determined sales representative in Typhoon Company

Lee Jun-ho portrays Kang Tae-poong, the CEO of Typhoon Company in the upcoming drama. Kang Tae-poong is a character who fights to preserve the company his late father cherished as deeply as his family.

The story captures Kang Tae-poong's journey of maturing into a "true adult" as he navigates moments of frustration and personal growth, supported by those around him while shouldering immense pressure during the IMF crisis.

Kim Min-ha will join him as Oh Mi-sook, the eldest daughter of her family and a sales representative at the same company. Following the passing of her parents, Mi-sook took on significant responsibilities to support her siblings. Having started her career as an accountant, she later received an opportunity to join the company as a sales representative, marking a major career shift.

Kim Min-ha debuted in 2016 and gained recognition through dramas like School 2017 and Partners for Justice. She rose to international fame in 2022 with her portrayal of young Seon-ja in Apple TV+’s Pachinko, earning widespread acclaim. Recently, she starred as Seon-hae, a sensitive screenwriter, in Disney+’s The Light Shop.

The actress is also confirmed for the upcoming TVING original series A Week Before I Die, slated for release in 2025. In this youth fantasy romance, she takes on the role of Jeong Hee-wan, whose first love appears as a grim reaper in front of her.

Why did Geum Sae-rok exit tvN’s Typhoon Company?

On January 6, the Korean media outlet Star News reported that actress Geum Sae-rok has officially stepped down from her role in the upcoming tvN drama Typhoon Company. The actress was unable to align her schedule with the drama’s filming timeline, leading to her withdrawal from the cast.

In November 2024, Geum Sae-rok’s agency, BH Entertainment, confirmed that she had received an offer to portray the female lead in the drama and was seriously considering the role. She was initially in talks to play Oh Mi-sook.

Although fans were eager to see Geum Sae-rok in the role, the production team has now moved forward with Kim Min-ha as the new female lead. Kim will take on the role of Oh Mi-sook alongside Lee Jun-ho, who plays the male lead.

The release date for the drama is expected to be in the second half of the year.
