Kim Yoo-jung is reported to star in the tvN drama 100 Days of Lies, directed by Yoo In-sik, according to an exclusive by JTBC on October 11. The series is set in Gyeongseong and follows the story of a top pickpocket who strikes a deal with the independence army, becoming an undercover spy at the Japanese Government-General of Korea.
The script is penned by Ryu Bo-ri, known for her work on Do You Like Brahms? and Trolley. Yoo In-sik, the director behind the series, is known for his previous projects, such as Dr Romantic and Extraordinary Attorney Woo, which have garnered critical acclaim. Additionally, he will soon be working on The Wonder Fools, starring Park Eun-bin and Cha Eun-woo
What role will Kim Yoo-jung be playing?
In 100 Days of Lies, Kim Yoo-jung will reportedly play the role of Gyeongseong's best pickpocket and later a spy. Her character must navigate a dangerous and high-stakes situation and is expected to display a mix of cunning and bravery.
The drama will explore themes of loyalty, survival, and the moral dilemmas that come with living under occupation, highlighting the fight for Korea’s independence during the Japanese colonial era. Kim Yoo-jung started as a child actor in 2003. She won the SBS Drama Award for Best Young Actress in 2008 for her roles in Iljimae and Painter of the Wind. In 2010, she won the KBS Drama Award for Best Young Actress for Grudge: The Revolt of Gumiho and the MBC Drama Award in the same category for Dong Yi and Flames of Desire.
Her first role leading role as an adult came in 2016 with the historical romance drama Love in the Moonlight. For this role, she won the APAN Star Award for Best New Actress and the Asia Artist Award for Best Icon, Drama.
Yoo-jung starred in the romantic comedy Because I Love You, the drama Clean with Passion for Now, and Backstreet Rookie. Her recent work includes the teen romance film 20th Century Girl and the fantasy-romance drama My Demon.
For her role in My Demon, she won the Top Excellence Award, Actress in a Miniseries Romance/Comedy Drama, at the 2023 SBS Drama Awards. In the same year, Yoo-jung also made her theatrical debut in Shakespeare in Love.
In addition to her potential role in 100 Days of Lies, Kim Yoo-jung has been working on other projects. She is currently filming the TVING original series Dear X. Earlier this year, she made a special appearance in the Netflix series Chicken Nugget, where she played a character involved in a bizarre and comedic situation.
