On October 22, 2024, fans of BTS' Suga retaliated against anti-fans who had organized funeral wreaths in front of the HYBE building, demanding the idol's removal from the group following his DUI incident. The antis had placed the wreaths with malicious messages targeting Suga and calling for his dismissal, even though he had already apologized, paid fines, and cooperated with authorities.

In response, the international supporters took an approach by gathering photos of the organizers behind the wreath protest and placing those pictures online in a similar manner as the antis did to the artist. International fans found the original protest disrespectful and overblown, as sending funeral wreaths for someone still alive seemed like an exaggerated reaction to the incident.

Many expressed their frustration, noting that while Suga’s photos were used for the protest, the antis were quick to criticize when their faces were revealed. International fans took to social media to call out the hypocrisy of the K-netizens. A user on X @HIES0MA wrote,

"hilarious but they have NO say about ANTIS sending FUNERAL DEATH WREATHS to suga? knets are a different breed of hypocritical."

"Nobody should go through this. But if they started it by sending funeral wreaths to a very much alive person, they should be ready for consequences too....they organised the entire thing," another fan commented.
"So they can do that to an idol but the fans can't do the same thing to them?? Make it make sense," an X user mentioned.
"We all know they were not commoners because this jobless losers were there for hours guarding the wreaths and they came back the second day but covered themselves lmao They send death wreaths and think is normal but they don't like it when people give back the same energy lmao," a user remarked.
"Knetz need to worry about their alarming suicide rates due to bulling, harassment and death threats," another user wrote.

Fans flooded social media with messages of solidarity and trended hashtags like #WeLoveYouYoongi, emphasizing their desire for BTS to remain united as seven members.

"antis can't even take a proper video of the wreaths cause the support trucks, banners and armys are blocking the wreaths IM SCREAMING," an X user wrote.
"Antis are so brave to send wreaths in front of HYBE, but now they are crying and throwing tantrums because their photo is edited with wreaths. DON'T MAKE ME LAUGH! You're getting a taste of your own medicine," a person commented.
"As we've shared, the wreaths are there, but ARMY’s support is even bigger, and that’s what matters. There were only 3 support trucks when this video was taken, but we now have a total of 5 today. While today is expected to be the last day of their protest, our support continues," a user mentioned.

BTS' Suga's fans rally in support as antis call for his removal from the group

The incident traces back to August 6, 2024, when the rapper was involved in a minor scooter accident near his home while under the influence of alcohol. After a police breathalyzer test, he was fined 15 million KRW by the Seoul Western District Court without the need for a full trial, as no one was harmed, and the case was deemed a minor offense.

Despite his compliance with legal proceedings, anti-fans continued to demand his removal from BTS. As funeral wreaths lined up outside HYBE's building with derogatory comments about Suga’s music and character, ARMY, BTS' loyal fandom, rallied in support of the rapper.

They also criticized HYBE for not doing enough to protect the artist from such attacks. The controversy mirrors a similar incident involving former RIIZE member Seunghan, where antis had also sent funeral wreaths demanding his departure. Ultimately, the RIIZE member voluntarily left the group.

However, BTS' fans have made it clear that they stand firmly by Suga, defending his accountability and calling for forgiveness. Despite the ongoing backlash, the BTS rapper continues to receive overwhelming support from his global fanbase.

Suga is currently serving as a social worker in the military. He is scheduled to be discharged in June 2025.
