Hyunjin and Lee Know open up about Stray Kids' contract renewal decision
Aiki, aka Kang Hye-in, is a prominent Korean dancer and leader of the dance crew HOOK, which gained fame in 2021 on Mnet's Street Woman Fighter. Recently, Aiki hosted Stray Kids members Hyunjin and Lee Know on her YouTube channel for an interview. The trio delighted fans by sharing lighthearted moments, showcasing dance moves together, and discussing meaningful topics.
During the interview, the subject of Stray Kids' contract renewal with JYP Entertainment also came up, and Hyunjin shared insights into the challenges they faced leading up to the decision. Reflecting on the period, he revealed it was one of the group's most unstable times, not because of conflicts but due to the weight of the decision.
He explained that all eight members gathered to discuss their future and ultimately agreed on the renewal. The idol shared:
“Rather than fighting among the members [ahead of the contract renewal] I think that was the most unstable time for us. There's nothing we could do about that... All 8 of us got together and said, 'Isn’t it such a waste for us to let go after having come this far? Let's really do this properly again.'”
Stray Kids officially renewed their contracts with JYP Entertainment on July 18, 2024, after six successful years as a group. Despite individual projects, advertisements, and endorsements, the members concluded that staying together was the best path forward. This decision highlighted their collective integrity and mutual commitment.
Currently, Stray Kids is touring the world with their largest-ever concert tour, dominATE. Their next performance is scheduled for December 21, 2024, in Jakarta, Indonesia. Hence, the group members can be seen continually performing in front of the global crowd together.
