LISA's 'ROCKSTAR' sets a new record to become the fastest MV by a K-pop Act in 2024 to reach 2 million views on YouTube

Lisa of BLACKPINK has officially released her new single, ROCKSTAR, and it is already setting and breaking records. Released on June 28, 2024, the ROCKSTAR music video has achieved the milestone of becoming the fastest K-pop music video of 2024 to reach 2 million views on YouTube.

This feat was accomplished by surpassing the previous record set by BABYMONSTER’s Sheesh earlier this year. Additionally, ROCKSTAR became the fastest music video of 2024 to surpass the 1 million view mark as well.


ROCKSTAR by Lisa breaks records within hours of release

Lisa of BLACKPINK, has released her highly anticipated third solo single, ROCKSTAR. This is her first project under her artist management firm, LLOUD. She had teased her new work multiple times, but had kept the specifics under wraps until June 18, when LLOUD officially announced the arrival of ROCKSTAR.

Following the announcement, the concept image and music video teaser were released, and within ten days, on June 28, the full music video has been made available.

From the teaser and images, fans eagerly awaited the release, anticipating Lisa’s vocals and dance moves. The impressive view counts within hours of release demonstrate the song's immediate popularity. In just one hour and seven minutes, ROCKSTAR became the fastest music video of 2024 to surpass 2 million views on YouTube, breaking the record previously held by BABYMONSTER’s Sheesh, which took 1 hour and 23 minutes to reach the same milestone.

Before hitting 2 million views, ROCKSTAR also set the record for the fastest 1 million YouTube views of 2024, achieving the milestone in just 24 minutes. This broke the previous record set by IU and V’s song Love Wins All, which reached 1 million views in two hours and 24 minutes.

ROCKSTAR is currently trending on music charts and social media platforms. The song, an upbeat hip-hop track, highlights the BLACKPINK star's prowess as a rapper. It features heavy beats and fast rap lines that exude confidence and boldness.

The music video showcases her in street outfits paired with metal accessories, matching the song’s edgy vibe. Fans have praised the music video for its fitting visuals and overall aesthetic, enhancing the song’s appeal.

Lisa was also heavily applauded for the representation of some Thai LGBTQ+ artists in the MV. Moreover, all of her three bandmates, Jisoo, Jennie, and Rosé have extended their support and love towards their beloved maknae. Two out of the three posted Instagram stories of the music video with personified captions. Jennie captioned,

"Our f**king rockstar, Lalisa you're so cool,"

Jisoo captioned,

"It's cool, Rockstar Lisa"

Rosé had commented upon the MV teaser Instagram post of the singer.


The entire K-pop and Thai community are extending their support and showering their praises upon the record-breaking artist.
