On Wednesday, July 24, ATTRAKT released a silhouette teaser video for FIFTY FIFTY, hinting at the four new members of the K-pop girl group. While the video didn't directly introduce or reveal the four K-pop idols, the silhouettes of the members led to fans speculating who the members of the new lineup would be.
However, netizens soon came forward to criticize the reorganization of the group and called out ATTRAKT for its actions. Previously, the original members of FIFTY FIFTY, Sio, Saena, and Aran, departed the agency after a breakout of a lawsuit. The members accused the agency of poor promotions, lack of concern for the members' health, mistreatment, and more.
In light of the same, netizens are not happy with the reconstruction of the K-pop girl group by debuting four new K-pop idols. Fans and netizens expressed that the company shouldn't benefit from the group's new lineup following the alleged mistreatment of its original members.
They expressed their exasperation on social media:
"If yall boycott this well they'll debut and that's it, it'll be over. orbits did the same with loona and we managed to cancel a cb, disband the group and help all 12 members fill a lawsuit against bbc. the new girls deserve to be treated well and that won't happen if they stay" - said a fan on X
"Anyone who has seen Aran pull out all her medications from her purse and having to say she’s fine when Attrakt was denying her life saving surgery would know why we need to boycott this new Fifty Fifty." - said another fan on X
"Please remember that this company abused the former fifty fifty girls both physically, mentally and financially and is currently sueing them for leaving so please remember to boycott this group and all of their content" - added another netizen on X
More fans and netizens came forward to spread awareness about what allegedly went down between original FIFTY FIFTY members and their agency, ATTRAKT.
"You are rubbish if you support this new formation knowing what happened to the other girls, you should all be ashamed. Never try to forget what happened, if you ignore it that will hurt you." - said an X user
"DO NOT SUPPORT THIS DEBUT. the original members suffered from horrific abuse at the hands of attrakt and had serious health issues from it. block their music on spotify and any other streaming platforms you may use. BOYCOTT ATTRAKT!!!" - said another netizen
"And we’ll STILL be boycotting, these new members are not gonna magically erase the abuse the company put the former members through" - added a netizen on X
All you need to know about the conflict between ATTRAKT and the original FIFTY FIFTY members
The controversy broke out in June 2023 when ATTRAKT released a statement expressing that they were made aware of external companies trying to poach FIFTY FIFTY. The agency expressed that they are unhappy with other companies trying to lure the members to break their exclusive contract with ATTRAKT.
Therefore, they warned companies from trying to poach the members. However, the saga took an unexpected turn when all the FIFTY FIFTY members filed a lawsuit against ATTRAKT listing various allegations. They called out the agency for its failure to obey the contract obligations.
Some issues pointed out by the members included the lack of transparency in financial documents, forcing them to promote despite health issues, revealing their personal information without consent, and more. The two parties eventually entered a lawsuit and ATTRAKT ended up winning the case.
However, midway through the lawsuit, Keena changed her legal representative and withdrew her appeal. Following the lawsuit, the agency sued the three former members, Saena, Sio, and Aran, for 130 billion KRW for their unlawful contract termination.
