BTS' Jungkook surprised his fans with an unexpected Weverse live session on December 18, 2024, amid military service. K-pop idols who are serving in the South Korean military for their mandatory service aren't permitted to do social media activities like live streaming. However, they can conduct such activities when they are on leave, which made Jungkook's livestream a pleasant surprise for his fans.

The singer's live video session on Weverse recorded 20.2 million views in real-time, making it the most viewed live session on the platform. The stream also surpassed views recorded by the Grammy Awards held in February 2024. The Award show recorded 16.9 million views.

A social media user also pointed out on X that the views on the BTS maknae's live stream were five times more than 2024's Video Music Awards live. The user, @bts_chartdata claimed that the the VMA saw 4.08 million views. As soon as ARMYs (BTS fandom) learned about this, they took to X to express their enthusiasm. Many also discussed the impact his surprise live session created on social media.

Fans took to social media to share that they were amazed by Jungkook's record as he beat two major award shows’ views through his livestream. Others said that no one could "question his numbers" and some even stated that the world was "waiting in anticipation" for the singer's comeback.

“The bloooodddd bath during ticketing in 2026 is gonna be crazy,” another fan added.
“Literal icon, some award shows can’t even get 10 million these days and you got jungkook doing this on a random Wednesday night, put some RESPECT ON HIS NAME!” a user stated.

Fans expressed their excitement as they await the BTS member's comeback from the military in 2025. As many called him the "king of Korea," some praised him for going on Live because he missed his fans.

BTS' Jungkook, who is currently serving his mandatory military service turned on the Weverse Live video to catch up with fans on December 18, 2024. Initially, many fans were concerned as the K-pop idol is currently serving in the military. They were worried whether it was allowed for him to go live while he still served.

However, Jungkook reassured fans informing them that as per the rules he was permitted to start a live session when he was on leave. Jungkook delighted fans with a Karaoke singing session as well. He sang songs including To. X by Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon, Die With A Smile by Bruno Mars, and Lady Gaga, APT. by BLACKPINK's Rosé ft. Bruno Mars, and more.

As an avid fan of G-Dragon, Jungkook expressed his happiness about the BIGBANG member's comeback. The singer also sang NILIRIA, WHO YOU?, and HOME SWEET HOME (ft. Taeyang and Daesung).

Jungkook also revealed that he and his fellow BTS member Jimin discuss music in the military. According to the singer, they also practice vocals together at the base.

The band members began their service on December 12, 2023, and are expected to be relieved from their military duties in 2025.
