"Long overdue post but understood"— Fans react as BIGHIT MUSIC shares birthday wishes to BTS' Kim Taehyung following national mourning period

BIGHIT MUSIC gained attention for the recent posts wishing BTS’ Kim Taehyung a belated happy birthday, following the national mourning period. On January 6, BIGHIT MUSIC dropped several behind-the-scenes photographs of Kim Taehyung in celebration of his belated birthday.

The BTS member was born on December 30, 1995, and turned 29 years old in 2024. However, BIGHIT MUSIC did not share any birthday content on their official social media pages, which they do annually on each artist’s birthday. This was in respect to the national mourning period, which was a consequence of the tragic Jeju airplane crash in South Korea on December 29, 2024.

According to the BBC, around 180 people passed away in the airplane crash, which was a returning flight from Bangkok to Muan International Airport. In respect of the deceased, a seven-day national mourning period was announced by the acting president of South Korea, Choi Sang-mok.

During these seven days, South Korean celebrities and their agencies refrained from sharing any celebratory posts or updates on social media. The updates were resumed as the mourning period was completed, leading many fans to share their birthday wishes for their idols. Fans shared their reactions to BIGHIT MUSIC's update on X.

“Couldn't even post for tae’s bday cus my acc got locked IJBOL but anyways, happy belated birthday taehyung! 29 has never looked better on anyone :) love u to infinity!” another fan wrote.

“Happy birthday my beloved darling Kim Taehyung, God blessing and Grace be with you always, I’m so proud of you. I hope you can feel the love fans around the world have for you while honoring your birthday. We can('t) wait to have you back. HAPPY V DAY,” a user said.

One fan mentioned that the BTS vocalist would begin his extreme cold weather training soon.

“In respect to the national 7 day mourning period that was declared by the Korean government, i didn't post this in time for Taehyung's birthday, but i felt even belated i should express my warm wishes!” a fan commented

“I feel like it might have been Taehyung's idea to post his birthday message tonight. Starting tomorrow, he’ll begin intense training in harsh, cold weather where temperatures could drop to even zero. It feels like a warm gift to reassure us not to worry. Taehyung, fighting!” a user said.

BTS’ Kim Taehyung reported to commence combat training during extreme cold conditions

On January 2, 2024, Yonhap News reported that the 2nd Army Corps in South Korea will reportedly begin their combat training during the extreme weather to increase readiness in severe cold conditions.

Notably, Kim Taehyung is serving in the military as a special police officer under the 2nd Army Corps located in Chuncheon, Gangwon-do Province.

As per the reports, the training will take place between January 6 and January 17, 2025, in locations including Hwacheon, Hongcheon, and Chuncheon, in Gangwon. It is said that the temperature of the region is perceived to decrease to -20 degrees Celsius.
