Lovely Runner, starring Byeon Woo-seok, Kim Hye-yoon, Song Geon-hee, N.flying's Lee Seung-hyub, and more, is currently one of the most talked about K-dramas online. Given the captivating plotline based on the time slip genre, fans and viewers have crucial questions that keep them hooked to Lovely Runner.

As the show approaches its final episode, most questions will likely be answered. Lovely Runner follows the story of a K-pop star, Ryu Sun-jae, illustrated by Byeon Woo-seok, and his passionate fan, Im Sol (played by Kim Hye-yoon). Ryu Sun-jae is widely popular for his looks and musical talents, and he even became an actor as he moved further with his career.

However, one day, he dies, which turns Im Sol's life upside down. Im Sol receives an opportunity to turn back time to change the trajectory of Ryu Sun-jae's life by avoiding the events that could lead the K-pop idol to his death in the present.

1. Who is Kim Young-soo, and why is he behind Im Sol?

Kim Young-soo, played by actor Heo Hyung-kyu, is a strange taxi driver who abducted Im Sol in 2007. He was the reason why Im Sol was paralyzed in both her legs. However, in the recent timeline, according to episode 15, he was caught back then and even served a 6-year term in prison for attempted murder.

However, the police department placed him on the search list due to suspicions of kidnapping. Not much has been revealed about Kim Young-soo and why he has been chasing Im Sol in each timeline. This is one of the questions that piques viewers' curiosity.


2. ⁠Is Im Sol's grandmother time traveling with her?

Im Sol's grandmother, Jung Mal-ja, depicted by actress Sung Byung-sook, has dementia in the present 2023. She barely remembers her daughter and granddaughter. However, there are instances in the drama where the grandmother is seen wearing Ryu Sun-jae’s watch, which Im Sol used to travel back in time. She even remembered where Im Sol had kept it in the present.

Furthermore, in episode 14 of Lovely Runner, the grandmother visited Ryu Geun-deok's restaurant (Ryu Sun-jae’s father, played by actor Kim Won-hae). She remembered him living across from their house in 2007 and shared a deep conversation with him.

However, she forgot who she was, and Ryu Sun-jae had to drop her off at her house, where Im Sol once again meets Ryu Sun-jae. Notably, Jung Mal-ja even told Im Sol that she knew Im Sol had been missing Ryu Sun-jae. This has raised the question of whether Jung Mal-ja also travels back in time like Im Sol.


3. What will happen to the watch?

Im Sol bought Ryu Sun-jae’s old wristwatch, which he used to wear during high school, through an auction. After his death, the watch became the source object that helped her travel back in time three times to save him. After the third journey to the past, not much has been revealed about Ryu Sun-jae’s watch. It is yet to be seen what will happen to his wristwatch.


4. Will Im Sol and Ryu Sun-jae get their happy ending?

According to the preview of Lovely Runner's episode 16, Ryu Sun-jae and Im Sol are expected to spend some wholesome moments together. The two also hinted at a wedding, as Im Sol is seen saying the following lines:

“Don't we look like newly weds right now? ”

Notably, Kim Young-soo is yet to be caught by police officer Kim Tae-sung (Song Geon-hee).


Lovely Runner's final episode will air on tvN and TVING at 8.50 pm KST on May 28, 2024. It will also be available on Viki and Viu in limited regions for international fans.
