Joy News 24, a South Korean entertainment and economics newspaper, conducted an extensive survey to celebrate its 20th anniversary. Held between September 30 and October 8, the survey aimed to highlight dramas, variety shows, movies, actors, and singers projected to shine in 2024.
Over 200 industry experts, including employees from entertainment and broadcasting firms, producers, and reporters, participated. The beloved couple from tvN’s Lovely Runner , Byun Woo-seok and Kim Hye-yoon, were crowned as the year’s best on-screen couple.
Nearly half of the survey participants voted for the Lovely Runner pair as the favorite on-screen couple, showcasing their wide appeal. The survey also highlights 2024's most anticipated entertainment stars and projects, categorized by sector.

Byun Woo-seok and Kim Hye-yoon, stars of Lovely Runner, stood out as the year’s favorite couple, captivating both fans and industry experts with their chemistry.
Lovely Runner was a time-slip romance that became an unexpected sensation. In this romance Im Sol (Kim Hye-yoon) travels back to 2008 to save her lover, Ryu Seon-jae (Byun Woo-seok). Byun Woo-seok and Kim Hye-yoon’s portrayal of Ryu Seon-jae and Im Sol was the defining couple of 2024.
With 92 votes, they took the top spot in the survey. Their chemistry, blending youthful story of the drama with the heartache were recognized, and even after the show ended.
Many respondents in the survey took Lovely Runner couple's affectionate nicknames given by the audience, such as ‘Sol Seon-jae Couple’ and ‘Sol Seon Couple.’
In second place were Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won from Queen of Tears. They received 76 votes. Despite some criticisms about the drama’s predictable storyline, their chemistry was undeniable. The two portrayed a married couple facing a crisis. The couple’s ability to balance humor with heartfelt moments made them one of 2024's most beloved pairings.
Jung Hae-in and Jung So-min, the leads of Love Next Door, took third place, receiving 13 votes. Their chemistry was so natural that many viewers speculated they were in a real relationship. The drama, which explored the romance between childhood friends turned adults, benefited from their believable performances.
Other notable couples included Shin Min-a and Kim Young-dae from No Love No Gain, who received 7 votes, and Park Seo-joon and Han So-hee from Gyeongseong Creature, each earning 4 votes. Um Tae-goo and Han Sun-hwa from My Sweet Mobster also garnered 4 votes. Jang Na-ra and Nam Ji-hyun, who portrayed a strong ‘womance’ in Good Partner, and Son Hyun-joo and Kim Myung-min from Your Honor, were also recognized for their excellent chemistry, each receiving 3 votes.
Other pairings, such as Ahn Jae-hong and Lee Som from LTNS, Park Shin-hye and Park Hyung-sik from Doctor Slump, and Ahn Bo-hyun and Park Ji-hyun from Flex X Cop, were also highlighted for their strong performances.
