On Wednesday, July 17, a fan-taken video of TXT's Beomgyu leaving HYBE's headquarters landed on the internet. In the video, the idol can be seen limping towards a taxi without being accompanied by security guards or managers. The video left fans quite angered and frustrated with HYBE's mismanagement of their artist.
BIGHIT released a statement last month about Beomgyu suffering from a sprained ligament in his ankle. Due to this, the idol has been on a break from several group activities. However, he was also spotted going in and out of schedules with the help of his crutches and support from security and management.
Given that the idol is still in his healing period, fans were shocked to see the idol was unaccompanied when he got off work from the HYBE headquarters. While fans do agree that the TXT singer has the freedom to go to places without being surrounded by security and management, fans are specifically concerned for him due to his injury.
Since mobbing and crowding by the public is a common occurrence for K-pop idols, fans were displeased with the agency's lack of security for their injured artist. Additionally, they were also unhappy that TXT's Beomgyu had to catch a taxi instead of using a company car to leave work.
"I’ve seen this situation before .. and he’s injured this is not normal at all !! What even is going on," said a fan on X.
"He still couldn't walk properly. No manager, no security and no company's car. He just got off work, not going on a private vacation. Why Hybe be treating him like this?!," added another fan.
"Why does gyu literally have opps in bighit mans is injured with no staff or security around?????," said another fan on X.
More fans came forward about how they were not satisfied with HYBE's treatment of Beomgyu.
"The limping.... is there no one there to take him home...," said a fan on X.
"This is what bbc did to chuu and this is also what wakeone did to ricky. what the hell is wrong with these companies ? jeez," added a netizen on X.
"Isn’t this what bbc did to chuu too?? bruh this brings his mistreatment to a whole new light for me and im EVEN MORE P*SSED OFF NOW," said an X user.
BigHit Entertainment released a statement announcing TXT Beomgyu's recent ankle injury
On June 19, BigHit Entertainment released a statement updating fans and netizens on TXT Beomgyu's health. The idol suffered from a ligament sprain in his ankle and was recommended to rest and not participate in schedules and projects that demand physical exhaustion.
The statement read:
"Beomgyu recently visited the hospital due to an injury he suffered during his activities and was diagnosed with a sprained ligament in his ankle. We ask for your understanding that it will be difficult for him to participate in some official activities, such as Paris Fashion Week, due to the doctor’s opinion that he needs to rest for the time being."
BigHit Entertainment continued,
"Although Beomgyu has a strong desire to participate in all of his scheduled activities, we will proceed with his activities based on the doctor’s opinions and have our artist’s recovery as the top priority. We will do our best to help Beomgyu recover as soon as possible so he can meet fans in good health."
While fans have already been angered by the alleged mistreatment and overworking of the TXT member, they have been all the more upset with the latest piece of information that landed regarding the idol.
