"Most memorable mistake"- Fans react as (G)-IDLE's Miyeon apologizes to BTS' Jungkook for the MCountdown trophy mishap during her time as an MC

(G)-IDLE's Miyeon made an appearance on the weekly Waiting Room live on Thursday, July 18, shortly preceding a special anniversary episode of MCountdown. She was invited to participate in this anniversary special broadcast with Hanbin of ZEROBASEONE, Jaehyun of BOYNEXTDOOR, and Sohee of RIIZE, the other MCs. When (G)-IDLE's Miyeon was reflecting on her time on MCountdown, the MCountdown trophy incident in July last year involving BTS' Jungkook came to her mind.

Therefore, Miyeon once again extended her sincere apologies to BTS’ Jungkook for the slip and fall that led to the dropping scene of his MCountdown trophy head, which Miyeon received on Jungkook’s behalf.

Fans found her apology adorable so much so that one of social media user commented,

(G)-IDLE's Miyeon joined the 20th anniversary special broadcast of MCountdown

MCountdown, the popular music show on Mnet, has marked 20 years in the industry. For the occasion, the music show broadcast the special episode featuring MCs like (G)-IDLE's Miyeon, BOYNEXTDOOR’s Myung Jaehyun, RIIZE’s Sohee, and ZEROBASEONE’s Sung Hanbin. The four idols got along famously as Miyeon had previously served as MC.

During the conversation, Miyeon was questioned about her most memorable MC mistake, and she brought up BTS’ Jungkook’s trophy mishap. She explained:

“When Jungkook sunbaenim won first place, the head of the trophy was spinning round and round. I remember being so surprised.”

Jungkook got first place for his song SEVEN on July 27, 2023. When the winners were revealed, Miyeon took the trophy for Jungkook since he wasn't there. And as she was about to say something on the mic, the head of his trophy broke off.

Following this incident, Jungkook made an amusing reference to the accidental fall in his Weverse note.

“ARMY, thank you for number one on ‘M Countdown!’ Thanks to you all, I was able to be number one on ‘M Countdown’ twice!!! Hehe. Uh… I was actually watching it live? I saw the trophy head come off hahaha. Hahahahahahah thank you!!!”

As (G)-IDLE's Miyeon reflected on the scenario, she seized the opportunity to express her apologies once more, stating,

“Let me take the chance to apologize again. It was such a fascinating experience.”
