On August 27, 2024, Naver News reported that My Liberation Notes actor, Son Suk-ku is confirmed to play the lead in the webtoon-based movie Moon You. It is a science-fiction human comedy about an astronaut who is left alone on after an asteroid's impact destroyed the Earth's humanity.
The film is to be directed by Kang Hyeong-cheol who is known for his films such as Sunny and Swing Kids. His films Scandal Makers (2008) and Sunny (2011) have been the highest-grossing films of their respective years. They are also among the highest-grossing Korean films of all time.
Son Suk-ku in Moon You
Son Suk-ku is expected to captivate the audience and is likely to undergo an unprecedented transformation as the main character who searches for a way to return home from an isolated moon.
Moon You: A Webtoon
Webtoons are digital comics from South Korea, designed for reading on smartphones. Moon You, illustrated and written by Cho Seok, follows the story of Moon Yoo, who believes he’s the last person on Earth. The plot is full of twists that keep readers engaged. The Webtoon currently has 7.6 million views and a 9.71-star rating. Cho Seok is also known for other popular works like The Sound of Your Heart, Hellbound, and Epilogue.
This is not Moon You's first adaptation into a movie. In 2022, a Chinese science fiction comedy film, Moon Man, was an adaptation of Cho Seok's webtoon. Moon Man was a box-office success in China with a record-breaking performance of 70 million viewers. It bagged two awards. One at the 35th Golden Rooser Awards, and the other at the Weibo Movie Night Most Popular Film Award.

Son Suk-ku, born on February 7, 2024, is a South Korean actor. Though born in South Korea, he began studying abroad while in middle school. Continuing his studies in the United States and Canada, he majored in visual arts and film at the School of Art Institute Chicago.
The actor gained recognition for his roles in the television series Matrimonial Chaos (2018), Designated Survivor: 60 Days (2019), and D.P. (2021-2023), wherein he starred alongside Jung Hae-in.
