On Thursday, October 10, BTS' Jin initiated a Weverse livestream to roll out advance celebrations for his fellow group member, Jimin. The idol stated that he was in the United States for an official schedule and was about to return to Korea. Since he felt he might miss the idol's birthday, he wanted to celebrate it with fans in advance.

However, an unexpected surprise was thrown at fans as the idol announced the release of Super Tuna 2. In 2021, the K-pop idol released a song called Super Tuna, a light-hearted track about his fishing experience and catching a big Tuna fish. However, fans loved the song, and it immediately blew up on the internet.

Therefore, when Jin announced the extended version of Super Tuna would be released, fans were over the moon. The idol explained that the new song will also accompany a music video. Super Tuna 2 will be released on October 11, approximately fifteen hours after the K-pop idol's livestream.

As fans continued celebrating the news, they also hilariously talked about the turn of events. Since fans thought the idol was only live to celebrate Jimin's birthday, they were happy to realize they were in for a pleasant surprise.

One user wrote on X:

"Did he just said Jimin’s birthday isn’t important after celebrating it in advance? It reminds me of Jimin when he told Yoongi that his birthday isn’t important and then surprise him with a cake a minute after, my normal family."

Fans on X commented that Jin seemed to playfully shift attention back to himself after celebrating Jimin, with many noting how his humor consistently shines through.

"It's like "Ok Jimin your time is up, now all the attention back to me"" said a fan on X
"This is so Seokjin coded if you ask me" commented a netizen
"I can’t breathe he’s the funniest person alive to me" added another netizen on X

More fans talked about how the sudden switch from celebrating Jimin's birthday to promoting Super Tuna 2 was extremely funny.

"He said enough free promo let's get to the real business," stated a fan on X.
"THIS GENUINELY SHOCKED ME CAUSE I WASN'T EXPECTING IT LMAO," added another fan.
"Celebrating Jimin's birthday is for the coverup," commented an X user.

Another user remarked:

"Jin is the real definition of "Never let them know your next move.""

All you need to know about BTS Jin's solo track, Super Tuna

In 2021, the idol released a short track, Super Tuna, with a fun choreography. The song was released light-heartedly, and Jin only wanted ARMYs to watch and listen to it. He also said he made the song to make ARMYs laugh and lighten their mood.

The song unexpectedly gained popularity online, which he did not anticipate. In March 2022, during an interview with Weverse magazine, he mentioned how he felt about the fame that the song grew to receive:

"Honestly, I felt a little awkward. It’s really rough compared to the kind of high-quality music I’m used to putting out with BTS, so I wanted ARMY to be the only ones who knew about it. It seemed to me that ARMY thought, I can’t keep this weird thing to myself, and they were having fun spreading it around. So I gave up."

Jin also added that he always wanted to make a song about fishing and created it as an excuse to go fishing with BUMZU, a South Korean singer who also enjoys fishing as a hobby. He pitched the song idea to his entertainment team and told them that the two going fishing would make good content, and eventually, the song came to fruition.

Fans were extremely happy and thrilled to learn that its extended version would reach them on October 11, 2024.
