Floral wreaths were delivered to HYBE's office, calling for the dismissal of BTS' SUGA
On October 20, 2024, the DUI controversy involving SUGA ignited online discourse as numerous flower wreaths were delivered to HYBE by naysayers. Certain netizens called for the expulsion of SUGA from the boy band following the rapper's DUI incident. The call for his dismissal emerged following the discussion of his incident on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
In the last episode aired on October 18, host Stephen Colbert emphasized that SUGA encountered condemnation and public outrage after allegedly riding an electric scooter while under the influence in August 2024.
The statement incited discontent among several Korean netizens, who then delivered floral wreaths to HYBE and expressed opposition, demanding the rapper's removal from the group.
Nonetheless, a number of BTS fans congregated outside the HYBE office in Seoul. They started voicing the group's fan chant—"Kim Namjoon, Kim Seokjin, Min Yoongi, Jung Hoseok, Park Jimin, Kim Taehyung, Jeon Jungkook, BTS"—to demonstrate their backing for the Daechwita singer.
As of this writing, SUGA is serving his compulsory military term. He is anticipated to be discharged sometime in June 2025. The rapper commenced his service in September 2023.
