South Korean actor Byeon Woo-seok recently shared what he looks for in upcoming projects after the hit drama Lovely Runner. On Tuesday, August 20, GQ Korea released an interview with Byeon Woo-seok where spoke about his character Ryu Sun-jae and how playing the character in Lovely Runner has changed his perspective towards acting.
When the interviewer asked Byeon Woo-seok if his passion and desire for acting increased after the tvN rom-com drama, he said,
“I think my standards became a little more solid while working on this work. I think the keyword is empathy. I think I focus a lot on the parts that I can relate to while reading the script.”

Byeon Woo-seok added that Ryu Sun-jae went through notable changes in his career in the drama. He further said that playing Ryu Sun-jae required emotional understanding and that he worked closely with Lovely Runner directors to give his best.
“I realized that when I read, I have to feel it in my heart and express it based on empathy in order to fully convey it to the viewers. If I get the chance in the future, I want to find works that I can understand and empathize with, and I won't be lazy in my efforts to understand the character,” he shared.
Actor Byeon Woo-seok shared his take on immaturity in a recent interview
On August 20, GQ Korea shared a pictorial featuring Strong Girl Namsoon actor Byeon Woo-seok donning different outfits from Prada. The outlet also released an interview in which the actor shared his thoughts on love, his father, and his future goals, among other things.
The actor had previously shared that being immature is not always bad, as it opens the door to learning opportunities. When asked about his current views on immaturity, he said,
“Still the same. How can a person always be mature and know everything? I think people make mistakes sometimes, overcome those mistakes, and learn things they don’t know well by studying and working hard. As of 2024, I’m still very immature and don’t know a lot. I’m constantly running to become a mature person. I fall down a lot and get up again every day.”
Byeon Woo-seok’s upcoming Japan fan meeting
The Record of Youth actor began his Summer Letter Asia fan meeting tour following the release of Lovely Runner and held shows in cities like Hong Kong, Jakarta, Taiwan, Bangkok, and more.
On August 19, his agency, VARO Entertainment, announced his Japan fan meeting titled 2024 Asia Fan Meeting Tour - Summer Letter in Tokyo, as per Gukje News, a South Korean media agency.
The actor will reportedly hold the event at Musashino Forest Sports Plaza Main Arena in Tokyo on Saturday, September 28, and Sunday, September 29. The ticket sales for the Summer Letter fan meeting commenced on August 20 at 12 pm KST and will continue till August 25, 2024.
Lovely Runner, starring Byeon Woo-seok, Kim Hye-yoon, Song Geon-hee, and N.Flying's Lee Seung-hyub, aired between April and May 2024 on tvN. The drama received much love from viewers, and due to the surging demand for the show, Netflix started airing it on August 1, 2024.
