On September 16, 2024, BTS' Kim Namjoon, who goes by his stage name RM, shared a meme on his Instagram story that sent his fans into a laughing riot. The Right Place, Wrong Person rapper-songwriter posted a meme about the Monday blues in which a man is questioning "Monday" for its audacity to appear out of the blue. The meme resonated with his fanbase, and the post went viral online.
For the unversed, the Domodachi rapper-songwriter went home from his ongoing military enlistment on official leave for the Chuseok festival. It is one of the most important festivals in Korea and is also called "Hangawi." In South Korea, September 15 to 19 is marked as a three-day holiday to celebrate Chuseok.
Namjoon celebrated his thirtieth birthday on September 12 when he reportedly went home for a day and posted on Instagram. He took another leave on September 15 to celebrate the first day of Chuseok with his family. Following this, he had to return to the barracks on September 16 (Monday). He also posted a second Instagram story wishing his fans a "Happy Chuseok." One fan wrote on X,
"Namjoon is such a mood"
Fans flooded social media and shared hilarious reactions to the BTS leader's Instagram stories. Some noted that he drew the pair of scissors in his second story while wishing everyone a happy Chuseok. Both scissors and Chuseok can sound like "Hangawi" in Korean, and fans suspected that RM used it as a wordplay.
"Haha, Monday never knows when to chill! But no Monday blues during Chuseok! Enjoy the holiday while it lasts, everyone!" one fan wrote on X.
"For those confused abt the scissors IGS. Chuseok is also known as Hangawi (한가위) which can also mean one pair of scissors (한 가위). So he's trying to say #Hangawi," another fan said.
"Wait, isn’t that the scissors that JK drew before during one of their Pictionary games and they kept saying it was a butterfly? Or I’m reading too much into it?" another fan noted.
Others joked about how RM has been eagerly waiting to be discharged from the military and return home.
"IM SORRY BUT THIS IS SO FUNNYSJGFS. GET MY MAN OUTTA THERE!!! HE SERVED ENOUGH!" another fan added.
"Someone help him escape out of those barracks," one other fan joked.
"Poor Joonie is like all of us when it comes to Mondays," one fan joked.
