NCT member Doyoung recently issued an apology for his remarks regarding AI song covers using senior Korean singers’ voices. Doyoung stated that he was chatting with NCTzens (NCT's fandom) on Melon and spoke about how an AI cover of his solo song Beginning in Singer Sunwoojunga's Voice moved his heart.
On Friday, April 26, Doyoung issued an apology on the fan communication app Bubble. The Little Light singer, while talking to fans said it would be great to hear his favorite artists sing his songs. He addressed this issue by stating that he did not think enough before making such a comment as it would cause harm to musicians and other artists.
The NCT member said:
"I think that I did not think it through deeply, and so I made a mistake. Even though I am a musician who prepared this album earnestly, I thought lightly of content such as AI voice covers, which may have great impacts on the value of singers and their voices. There are no excuses, it was a mistake on my part." [H/T: Allkpop]
The NCT member sincerely apologized to all the singers he spoke about in the conversation regarding AI song covers, stating,
"I sincerely apologize to all of the sunbae artists whom I mentioned as singers whose voices I love, and to all of the fans of those artists."

Recently, Doyoung had a conversation with fans on Melon regarding AI covers and how he was touched by a particular covering of his song's beginning which was reprised with popular singer Sunwoojunga's captivating vocals.
According to Top Star news, he also reportedly asked fans if there was a person who knew how to make AI covers as he would love to listen to his songs in his favorite artists’ voices. This garnered attention among South Korean netizens receiving negative reactions.
Following this, The YOUTH singer explained the situation, accepted his mistake, and apologized to all the artists he mentioned during this conversation which includes IU, SNSD's Taeyeon, Park Hyo-shin, DAY6, and more.
In his statement on Bubble, he also apologized to his fanbase for not thinking through before making such remarks and promised not to repeat this mistake.
He said,
"I also want to say sorry to Czennies for my actions which I am not proud of, and also for creating such a situation. I will do better to become someone who thinks deeply about music and who acts earnestly."
About NCT's Doyoung’s solo debut
The NCT 127 member Doyoung recently made his solo debut with the 1st album YOUTH with the title track Little Light on April 22, 2024. The album includes 10 tracks: Beginning, From Little Wave, Time Machine featuring SNSD's Taeyeon and his fellow group member Mark, Serenade, Rewind, Warmth, Lost In California, Rest, and the outro track Dallas Love Field.
Besides showcasing his vocal skills through this album, Doyoung has also been credited with penning the lyrics of the modern rock song From Little Wave.
On April 23, the next day of its official release, the album YOUTH reached No. 1 on the iTunes Top Albums charts in around 13 different countries including Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Russia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, the Philippines, and more. Furthermore, it also debuted in the top 10 of iTunes charts in 19 different countries including Japan, Australia, Turkey, and more.
Before marking his official solo debut, Doyoung participated in multiple K-drama OST albums. Last year, he released Beautiful Day for Ahn Hyo-seop's drama Dr. Romantic 3 and the song Here with Me for Ahn Bo-hyun's drama See You in My 19th Life.
