Netflix Korea’s Culinary Class Wars has captured the attention of food enthusiasts worldwide, quickly rising to the number one spot among non-English TV series during its debut week. The show, which began streaming on September 17, 2024, pits the best of Korea’s culinary world in an intense competition.
Split into two teams, the series features 100 chefs, with 20 elite White Spoon Chefs facing off against 80 junior Black Spoon Chefs. The White Spoons are composed of some of Korea's top professionals, each boasting an impressive culinary background.
The competition is judged by Paik Jong-won, a TV personality, and chef, along with Chef Anh Sung-jae, the mastermind behind the three-star Mosu Seoul restaurant.
The eight-episode series of Culinary Class Wars is rolling out episodes gradually followed by the final episodes on October 8, 2024.

1) Choi Kang-rok
Restaurant: Neo
He specializes in Japanese-inspired course meals. Additionally, He is also the winner of Master Chef Korea 2 which aired in 2013.
2) Jung Ji-sun
Restaurant: Tian Mimi
She is known as the "Queen of Dim Sum" of the Culinary Class Wars. Jung Ji-sun is a Chinese star chef in South Korea and also runs a YouTube channel, @knifejisun. She appeared on Please Take Care of My Refrigerator as a female chef, in SBS' Gangho Battle, and as a boss in The Boss's Ears are Donkey Ears.
3) Choi Ji-hyung
Restaurant: Lee Buk Bang
This chef of Culinary Class Wars is said to be the expert in North Korean-style course meals.
4) Joseph Lidgerwood
Restaurant: Evett
An Australian chef offers Michelin 1-star Korean cuisine through a foreign lens. He also received the Michelin Seoul Young Chef of the Year Award in 2020 and 2021.
5) Kim Do-yun
Restaurant: Yun Seoul
Michelin 1-star chef specializes in homemade noodles and dried fish dishes.
6) Lu Ching Lai
Restaurant: Hong Bo Gak
Lu Ching Lai is a master of Chinese cuisine. The restaurant is situated in the Grand Ambassador Seoul and serves food in Fujian Province.
7) Choi Hyun-seok

He is a Western cuisine pioneer and also a former cooking show judge. Apart from owning the aforementioned restaurant, he also manages the Central Reducer operation team at a Chinese restaurant and serves as the department head at Lamid Hotel Vocational School.
He appeared on numerous shows like Olive Cooking Time, Sumine Side Dishes, Please Take Care of My Refrigerator, and more. He had 2 seasons of his show Chef Hyunsuk Choi's Crazy Time on FOOD TV. Moreover, he appeared as a judge on shows like Korean Food Battle S2 and S3, Wednesday Gourmet, and more.
8) Park Joon-woo
Restaurant: Aux Petits Verres
This chef is a dessert café owner and runner-up of Master Chef Korea Season 1. He also appeared on shows like Olive Show 2015, and Gourmet Clubs. Moreover, he appeared as a guest on Twice's Elegant Private Life episode 4.
9) Oh Se-deuk
Restaurant: Chinnmeal, Ohpanfire
He majorly focuses on modern Korean cuisine from Jeju Island. This chef had a fixed appearance in shows like Korean Food Battle 1, Take Care of My Refrigerator, Chef, and Paldo Table Plus. As a guest, he appeared in Radio Star, My Little Television, Wednesday Gourmet, and more. He also appeared as a masked singer in MBC's show.

Executive chef of Negi Live, Negi Sukiyaki, and Negi Dining Lounge. He operates several other Japanese restaurants in South Korea.
11) Nam Jeong-seok

He is the leader in plant-based Korean cuisine. He also works as a head chef of Green Ball. Before this Netflix show, the chef also appeared in KBS' Sponge as a demonstrator.
12) Fabrizio Ferrari
Restaurant: Fabri Kitchen
This Italian Michelin 1-star chef is well-versed in Korean cuisine. He was a contestant in the Korean Food Battle of the World and also in Baek Jong-won Class. Later, he arrived in the same Baek Jong-won's Mystery Kitchen as a judge. He has also appeared in commercials for McDonald's, Volvo, and more.
13) Kim Seung-min
Restaurant: Morino Aruyo
Kin Seung-min specializes in rice bowls and has won Master Chef Korea Season 1. The chef also appeared in Please Take Care of My Refrigerator. He is currently involved with a chef agency, Advanced Cuisine.
