On December 18, BTS' Jungkook unexpectedly came live on Weverse and engaged with his fans. He told his fans that he had loved BIGBANG since childhood and was glad they made a comeback.
He also mentioned the group’s latest release Home Sweet Home. Further, he talked about G-Dragon’s recent solo track POWER. BTS' Jungkook also revealed that he tried singing their latest songs.
“Ah, actually, really, those ARMYs who have known me since I was young would know, but I was really, really a huge fan of BIGBANG, like a die-hard fan. So, I’m really, really happy that they made a comeback... When "Power" and "Home Sweet Home" came out, I tried singing along and definitely I got goosebumps,” Jungkook said.
For those unaware, G-Dragon's POWER debuted on October 31, while Home Sweet Home came out on November 22.
BTS' Jungkook's admiration for BIGBANG and G-Dragon won over his fans. Consequently, his admirers were overjoyed that he sang their newest tracks and opened up about his favorite artists from his formative years. Expressing this sentiment, one user on X stated:
“I admire him for always being honest and vocal with the things that he likes and support. He never let his toxic fans decide for him”
Many other mixed responses to Jungkook’s fondness of BIGBANG and G-Dragon were seen online. While some said he was “hyping his faves,” others stated that he remembers his roots.
“Man’s just out here living his best life, hyping his faves, and y’all can’t handle it. Imagine hating on him for loving what he loves. Get a grip, for real,” wrote a fan.
“i just want him to rmbr his roots jk cmon the biggest kjy & BB fanboy,” stated another fan.
“And suddenly I time travelled back to 2014. I honestly feel like he still is too just because he didn't mention it doesn't mean he stopped being a fan,” commented an admirer.
One claimed Jungkook has a “great taste” in music, while another lauded him for being vocal about his favorite artists.
“A real ARMY wouldn't judge or shame Jungkook and BTS for liking GD and BigBang. I'm sick seeing negative comments left and right. I think it's true we're the worst fandom ever? I don't know anymore,” remarked a fan.
“I love how JK is vocal about his being a fan boy. As an ARMY I respect and support what his love, wants and likes.,” expressed another fan.
“The most talented member the most successful solo proved by talent not fan vote and also a fan of bigbang no wonder ure the best out of em all jk the man that u are!,” commented a fan.
BTS' Jungkook live stream garnered over 20 million real-time viewers on Weverse
Jeon Jungkook stunned his followers with an impromptu Weverse streaming event on December 18, 2024. The Seven hitmaker held this live stream while serving his obligatory term in the military.
K-pop idols who are serving in the South Korean military as part of their compulsory military service are forbidden from participating in social media activities like live streaming while on duty. They can, however, engage in such things while on leave, therefore BTS' Jungkook's broadcast came as a nice surprise to his admirers.
The singer's live streaming session on Weverse had 20.2 million views in real time, which made it the most popular live session on the platform. The 3D singer became 'Most Viewed Individual Live in real-time on Weverse' in less than 3 hours stream.
BTS' Jungkook’s live session surpassed the views of the Grammy Awards, which were held in February 2024. The award show drew 16.9 million real-time viewers.
BTS' Jungkook, who enlisted in the military in December 2023, is expected to finish his mandatory service by June 2025.
