The much-anticipated spin-off of the popular drama Hospital Playlist, Resident Playbook, will finally air. The drama series, which found itself amidst controversies and delays, is scheduled to be released in April 2025. Fans could not keep calm after they got a sneak peek of the series in tvN's 2025 announcement video about the upcoming dramas.
The series was scheduled to be released in May 2024 but was postponed to the second half of 2024 and eventually was postponed until further notice. The fans who were waiting for the series with bated breath rejoiced at the announcement.

The reason for the postponement of the Resident Playbook explained
Resident Playbook was one of the most anticipated TV series last year, thanks to the hype created by its predecessor, Hospital Playlist. The series was said to be released right after the popular drama series Queen of Tears.
However, the show faced much backlash due to a strike by doctors in Feb 2024 in protest of the South Korean government's proposal to increase the quota of medical school admission. Many doctors, interns, and residents resigned, leading to growing discontent amongst the general public regarding doctors.
It was reportedly speculated that drama series could face repercussions in light of these strikes. Eventually, tvN postponed the drama's release to the second half of 2024. But again, the release was postponed to 2025. It was allegedly believed that the drama series could even be canceled.
Now, with the announcement of the show's release in April 2025, the audiences are beyond ecstatic.

Starring Go Youn-jung, Jung Joon-won, and Shin Si-ah, the series is created by Shin Won-ho and Lee Woo-Jung, who are credited with unforgettable dramas such as the Reply series, Prison Playbook, and Hospital Playlist.
The series is a spin-off of the hit drama series Hospital Playlist starring Jo Jung-suk, Yoo Yeon-seok, and Jeon Mi-do. The series became the ninth-highest-rated Korean drama at that time. This series, too, followed the lives of doctors in Yulje Medical Center.
