MTV Video Music Awards, also known as VMAs, is a prestigious award show, organized annually to celebrate the production of unique music videos. The first award ceremony was organized on September 14, 1984, and has been often referred to as the Super Bowl among the youth due to its huge appeal to the younger generation.

The South Korean K-pop girl group newJeans was formed and managed by HYBE CORPORATION's sub-label ADOR. It consists of five members— Minji, Danielle, Haerin, Hyein, and Hanni. The band has been popular for their 'girl next door' image. They debuted on July 22, 2024, with the single Attention, which subsequently emerged as the group's number-one song on South Korea's Circle Digital Chart.

Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN was formed by HYBE CORPORATION's subsidiary, Pledis Entertainment, and consists of thirteen members, including S.Coups, Joshua, Jeonghan, Jun, Wonwoo, Hoshi, Woozi, DK, The8, Mingyu, Seungkwan, Dino, and Vernon.

The group made their debut with the extended play, 17 Carat, on May 26, 2015. The record later emerged as the longest-charting K-pop album of the year in the United States.

MTV Video Music Awards will be held at the UBS Arena, Long Island, Elmont, New York, on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, and hosted by the Grammy award-winning American rapper and singer, Megan Thee Stallion.
