Former NCT member Moon Taeil (30) has been facing charges of s*xually assaulting a woman. Amidst his ongoing criminal investigation, the K-pop idol was removed from NCT and its subunit, NCT 127 on August 28, 2024, according to SM Entertainment. The investigation riled up the K-pop community as fans started questioning the reality of K-pop idols.

One such clip was shared by a fan on September 4, 2024, which showed KARD's BM indirectly warning fans about the unpleasant reality of K-pop idols. The clip was originally from the YouTube channel, DIVE Studios‘ GET REAL podcast. During GIRL TALK with Joan Kim episode 16 on DIVE Studios‘ GET REAL podcast, KARD's BM said:

"Some of you will be surprised. Your favorite stan, bias may not be who you think they are. Not trying to crush your dreams but just being real…"

For the unversed, KARD is a South Korean group consisting of two male and two female members — J.Seph, BM, Somin, and Jiwoo.

The clip went viral online as netizens left comments under the Instagram post about how Taeil's ongoing s*x crime investigation has shaken everyone. Furthermore, the viral clip also caught BM's attention and the artist left a comment, stating how even he isn't perfect as a human being.

"I'm also not perfect.. although I will try to be better human being, I have my days I lose it like the rest of everyone else. None of us "idols" or "celebs" are any better than anyone cuz we dance sing or rap in front of a camera just saying. I got a lot to work on too," he wrote.

More about KARD and Taeil's ongoing investigation for s*xual assault

KARD debuted in 2016 under DSP Media. On December 8, 2016, the South Korean K-pop group dropped its first pre-debut project single titled Oh NaNa. The single ranked them 8th among the "10 Best New K-pop Groups in 2016" by Billboard magazine in December 2016. The group was only eight days into its pre-debut project when they made the list.

Subsequently, Oh NaNa became the group's debut entry on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales Chart at No. 5 on January 7, 2017, and stayed there for eight weeks. Billboard listed them as one of the "Top 5 K-Pop Artists to Watch in 2017."

Moon Taeil was accused of s*xual assault in June 2024. On August 28, Bangbae Police Station stated that Taeil was officially charged in June for s*xual misconduct. However, SM Entertainment stated on August 29, 2024, that they learned about Taeil's case on August 28 and removed him from NCT.

Both SM Entertainment and NCT members distanced themselves from the 30-year-old accused. NCT's Doyoung, Mark, Winwin, Haechan, and Jaehyun among others unfollowed Taeil on Instagram and deleted their pictures with him from their respective Instagram profiles.

Currently, Bangbae Police Station is investigating Taeil's case. Money Control reported that after his case made headlines, the former member of NCT lost over a million followers and changed his Instagram profile to private.
