MBC's When the Phone Rings is nearing its series finale with record-breaking viewership. While fans eagerly anticipate a happy ending, numerous questions still remain unanswered.

On January 3, Yoo Yeon-seok and Chae Soo-bin starrer reached its highest ratings yet, ahead of its final episode. According to Nielsen Korea, the eleventh episode of When the Phone Rings garnered an average nationwide rating of 8.3 percent, setting a new personal best for the show.

The last few episodes of the series exposed many dark secrets. As they came to light, things became even more complicated. In the eleventh episode of When the Phone Rings, after the real Sa-eon kidnaps Hee-joo, Sa-eon goes after him and Kyu-jin, hoping to find Hee-joo before anything worse happens.

Sa-eon and Hee-joo both hope to have a normal happy life with each other but fate has something else in store for them. In their imaginations, they envision a more idyllic version of their three years together, where they spend happy moments like a typical couple instead of being distant.

With just one episode remaining of When the Phone Rings, fans continue to hold onto the hope that Sa-eon and Hee-joo can achieve their dream of being a normal married couple, even as they witness only a glimpse of their happiness in their imaginations.

"Not with this mukbang scene, again only her imagination you can’t do this to us!!!" said one fan.
"somebody please tell them they can get all of their dreams come true bcs they have 3 years of marriage—instead just keep dreaming about it," said another.
"Spoiler? Here, Mrs. Heejo and Her Mr. Heejoo in their 3rd year of Marriage, but in dreams, again!" commented another.

Fans noted that they can only see the couple happy when they are dreaming of it in When the Phone Rings.

"I came to a conclusion, everything other than crying or kidnapping, like something happy or lovey dovey is just imagination in this show," another fan noted.
"Their imagination ruled the whole show Man it just gets Wilder wilder all the freaky time..... Their imagination never disappoints always makes me skip my heart beat," another fan said.

When is the last episode of When the Phone Rings and what to expect?

In the 11th episode of When the Phone Rings, Sa-eon tries to speak with the real Sa-eon who had a rifle pointed at him and Hee-joo. As the police surrounded them, the real Sa-eon whispered something in Sa-eon's ear. Not knowing what it was that he said, Hee-joo could see Sa-eon looking at her and tearing up. Suddenly she hears a gunshot.

Then the viewers are taken to six months after the incident. A lonely Hee-joo imagines having Sa-eon around but soon comes back to reality in the empty house. She tries to call his phone again and again but to no avail. Suddenly she gets a call from the 604 number, opposite of the 406 number that she had used while posing as the kidnapper.

In the finale of When the Phone Rings, one can expect to find out what happened to Sa-eon. Whether the gunshot was aimed at him or someone else. Moreover, who is the person calling as 604 will also be revealed. The show displays it as an international number, Hee-joo doubts it is Sa-eon calling through that.

If Sa-eon had been alive and stayed away from Hee-joo all this while, there is a possibility that he planned to build a quiet life away from his identity as the Baek heir and the presidential spokesperson.

The last and 12th episode of When the Phone Rings is scheduled to be aired on January 4.
