Vogue KOREA published the latest interview of BLACKPINK rapper Lalisa Manobal, aka Lisa, on September 18, 2024. The Thai rapper established her independent company, LLOUD, on February 7 and signed a partnership deal with the American record label, RCA Records, in May 2024.
Under the partnership, she released her comeback solo singles, ROCKSTAR and NEW WOMAN (feat. Rosalía), on June 28 and August 15, respectively. Vogue traced back her journey and how she has been juggling several things like music, fashion, and being a CEO at once. When asked about her thoughts on being the leader and leading her company to the pinnacle, Lisa replied,
“I’ve never thought about that. Because we’re not alone, we’re together. Oh, the word boss is so awkward! Since I still don’t have much experience leading a team, I listen to the opinions of my coworkers as if they were family or friends. We’re having fun moving forward together.”
Her answer won hearts, and admirers rushed to X to laud the ROCKSTAR rapper for leading her company by example and treating employees as equals.
"Now that's a real LEADER because instead of giving orders she led them by working it together. Lovely."
Admirers lauded her for being a good leader and working alongside "trustworthy people."
"Lisa looks like a lady boss in that suit. Her company name LLOUD is so fitting for her vision. I love how she treats everyone like family," one fan stated.
"I love the bond she has with her staff, and I'm glad she's working with hopefully trustworthy people," another fan said.
"Yes, now you have your own company, and ofc you're an outstanding lady boss for sure," one other fan added.
Others highlighted that the BLACKPINK rapper has been gaining more experience ever since she started her company.
"My democratic leader lalisa manobal everyone. No wonder she succeeded in life. Her treats everyone equally," one fan said.
"She is a Boss who is a LEADER. A lot of Bosses don't know how to lead. She is still learning and so far I can see she's on the right path. It's not perfect yet but as she gain more experiences and learn what works and what's not, she'll grow to be even greater and more successful," another fan added.
"All of she said make me admire her even more again n again," another fan lauded the rapper.
Lisa opens up about how "in the past, it was difficult" for her to share her opinions and visions
The CEO of LLOUD referred to her altered personality after she launched her company. Lisa revealed how, in the past, she had difficulty expressing her feelings since she frequently worried that people wouldn't find her ideas appealing.
“In the past, it was difficult for me to express my feelings clearly. I was afraid that I would make the other person uncomfortable by saying things unnecessarily. But then, no one was satisfied with the result. The other person could feel frustrated because they didn’t know what I wanted. So I realized that I had to clearly convey my opinion to get great results. They are all professionals.”
The Thai rapper became the first K-pop soloist to perform live on ROCKSTAR and NEW WOMAN at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards on September 12. Lisa also made history by becoming the first female K-pop solo artist to win the Best K-pop award.
Currently, Lisa is set to release her full-length debut solo album by the end of 2024. She told Vogue that her album would be "outside-the-box," where she intends to break stereotypes and experiment with different concepts.
