BTS' RM gets selected for his love for reading
BTS' Kim Namjoon, aka RM, has been known for his intellectual side due to his contribution to writing many of the group's songs. Recently, he was selected as the winner of the category, “wise idols who are likely to read a lot” by Forbes Korea.
Boasting a high IQ level of 148, Namjoon has previously revealed that he loves reading and does it a lot. He has also previously recommended books to his fans. Some of these books include Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka, Demian by Hermann Hesse, Please Look After Mother by Kyung-sook Shin, and many more.
According to Forbes Korea, BTS' leader has been involved in the hip-hop scene from a young age. By middle school, he was already showcasing his talent by sharing original raps on online hip-hop communities. His lyric-writing skills were evident early on, as he consistently shared his work with fellow enthusiasts.
As the primary lyricist for BTS, RM’s writing is noted for its depth, often exploring personal and philosophical themes. He tends to focus on introspective topics, such as grappling with an uncertain future, dealing with criticism, navigating questions of identity, and facing feelings of loneliness.
Rather than expressing these ideas directly, Namjoon often employs metaphorical language, allowing him to convey complex messages in a more implicit and thought-provoking manner.
Beyond his lyricism, the artist is also recognized for his eloquence as a speaker. He's known for his impactful acceptance speeches, earning him a reputation as a skilled orator. This ability was highlighted when he delivered an inspiring speech in English at the United Nations on September 24, 2018, which moved the global audiences.
"Maybe I made a mistake yesterday, but yesterday’s me is still me. I am who I am today, with all my faults. Tomorrow I might be a tiny bit wiser, and that’s me, too. These faults and mistakes are what I am, making up the brightest stars in the constellation of my life. I have come to love myself for who I was, who I am, and who I hope to become," the K-pop idol said in the speech.
The BTS leader’s documentary, Right People, Wrong Place, is all set to be showcased on October 7, 2024. The screening will be held in an open cinema setting at Haeundae-gu Film Archive at the Busan Film Festival. The tickets for this particular event are sold out, and fans are looking forward to it.
