The sixth episode of When the Phone Rings aired on December 14, 2024, leaving fans buzzing with theories about the unfolding mystery. Viewers were gripped by Baek Sa-eon’s (Yoo Yeon-seok) frantic search for Hong Hee-joo (Chae Soo-bin) after her shocking fall during a team retreat. Meanwhile, new questions about the identity and motives of the series' characters emerged.

The episode builds tension as Sa-eon shows increasing possessiveness toward Hee-joo during the retreat. He made sure they teamed up for games and even orchestrated photo opportunities. However, the lighthearted atmosphere took a sharp turn.

Hee-joo was pushed off a platform during a chaotic moment with the group. Sa-eon led an urgent search. However, his efforts were unsuccessful, leaving Hee-joo injured, stranded, and struggling to call for help.

Theories among When the Phone Rings fans have zeroed in on Sa-eon's assistant, Park Do-jae, as a key figure in the mystery. Speculations suggest that Do-jae might be connected to a subplot involving twin brothers who went missing from an orphanage, as revealed in the same episode.

Some believe Park Do-jae is one of the twins and that his sibling may have been a victim of a greater conspiracy involving Sa-eon's family. An X user, @jsyfjk, wrote:

"Park do jae is the twins isn't it? Based on the novel, the real saeon killed dojae's lil brother/sist."

Fans also noticed striking similarities between Park Do-jae and Sa-eon, further fueling the theory that Do-jae is seeking revenge for his twin. According to one popular hypothesis, the assistant helped orchestrate the push to either harm or intimidate Sa-eon.

"Oh I have so many theories. I'm leaning more toward him being one of the twins. But he is definitely SUSPICIOUS!," an X user added.
"I ain’t surprised if he’s is the psycho twin (the orphanage missing kids)," a fan commented.
"AND HE WAS ALSO THE ONE WHO SUGGESTED THE HIKEEEEE. I JUST CONFIRMED THIS BY REWATCHING. Lol why am I yelling. Just excited y'all," another user wrote on X.
"Park Min Woo is Park Do Jae's twin, who was killed by the real Baek Saeon," a person mentioned.

Others suggest a deeper connection that the kidnapper who holds a grudge against Sa-eon may be Do-jae's twin, creating a tangled web of revenge and identity.

"I am 100000% sure its the assistant. And the real baek saeon the psychopath is 406. My head is bursting trying to unravel the mystery," a fan remarked.
"So I'm going to think about this for the next 6 days????" an X user commented.
"They keep making us thinking by giving the hint one by one. It's torturing," a user added.
