Park Seo-joon is poised to be cast as the lead in the upcoming drama Waiting for Gyeongdo (literal title), as reported by TV Daily Korea on July 8. This project will also be the first joint effort between Thirty-Nine writer Yoo Young-ah and King the Land director Im Hyun-wook. The JTBC Network is in discussions for being the broadcasting partner for Waiting for Gyeongdo.

Park Seo-joon was recently seen in the historical Netflix K-drama Gyeongseong Creature, alongside Han So-hee. He also appeared in season 2 of Jinny's Kitchen, the ongoing variety show produced by tvN and available to stream on Amazon Prime.

Park Seo-joon to play protagonist Gyeong-do in Director Im Hyun-wook's new romantic drama

Park Seo-joon has been chosen as the lead character, Gyeong-do, for the upcoming K-drama, Waiting for Gyeongdo. As reported by OSEN on July 8, Seo-joon's agency, Awesome ENT, said,

"It is true that we have been offered a script for the new drama 'Waiting for Gyeongdo', it is just one of the works that have been proposed, and nothing has been confirmed."

Lim Hyun-wook, the director of JTBC's King the Land, which concluded last year, as well as Someone Who Looks Like You, Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency, and Life, is the director of the upcoming romance drama Waiting for Gyeongdo.

Screenwriter Yoo Young Ah, who has previously written hit movies and shows, including Miracle in Cell No. 7, Divorce Attorney Shin, Encounter, My Annoying Brother, and Thirty-Nine, is joining him. JTBC is most likely to be the broadcasting partner for the series. Fans are still waiting on more information regarding other cast members and release dates.

Park Seo-joon's other recent roles

Park Seo-joon's last project, the television program Jinny's Kitchen 2, delves into the inner workings of a Korean restaurant run by a committed manager and enthusiastic staff. This time, the restaurant's second location has opened in windy, chilly Iceland.

The Itaweon Class actor wrapped up filming the episode on March 31 by sharing a story on his Instagram where he was seen napping on a chair, exhausted after a tough day's work.

Seo-joon's historical drama, Gyeongseong Creature, had its first season air on December 22, 2023. The second half was initially scheduled to release on January 4, but is now expected to release in the second half of 2024.

The Netflix series takes place in Korea under Japan's colonial control and centers on an entrepreneur, Jang Tae-Sang, played by Park Seo-joon, and a detective, Yoon Chae-Ok, played by Han So-hee, who must battle monstrous creatures that were created out of human greed. The two fight to survive in the city of Gyeongseong after coming across bizarre creatures.
