Parole Examiner Lee, tvN's Monday-Tuesday legal drama, debuted on November 18, 2024, at 8:50 pm KST. The series delves into the intense world of parole hearings, shedding light on the moral complexities and power struggles within a flawed justice system. Directed by Yoon Sang-ho and penned by Park Chi-hyung, the show presents a gripping narrative of corruption and ethical challenges.

Parole Examiner Lee episode 6 recap: Kim Nae-kyung is cornered
In episode 5 of Parole Examiner Lee, Lee steps in as a gambler and Wong needs money to continue playing. Finding the right chance, Hwa-ran steps in and asks Wong to leave something with her as security in exchange for three big bills. Wong reveals his priced watch and gives it to Hwa-ran. Right after Lee loses, Seo-yun enters and handcuffs everyone for illegal gambling. Lee, Hwa-ran, and their team are eventually released, and Hwa-ran discovers this was part of Lee's plan from the start.
Wong is also taken into custody but is released due to the absence of a warrant. The watch that is kept as evidence is found to have been bought by Kim Nae-kyung, a fellow parole examiner and professor.
Later in the episode, Nae-kyung is approached by an acquaintance who wants her to help a hospital director's son, who has been released on parole. Though initially hesitant, she decides to take on the task.
Lee explains to Hwa-ran and Seo-yun that Nae-kyung exploits the parole system by securing the release of wealthy families' sons under the condition of employment arrangements. Wong asks Nae-kyung for money again, but she asks him to make space for the hospital director's son. In his luxury prison room, Chairman Ji decides to target Cheon Su-beom to threaten Lee.
Lee arrives at Wong's factory for an examination. Wong is shocked to see him as a lawyer after playing cards with him at the gambling table and threatens him with the video he made of Lee gambling. However, since it is a sting operation, the video is of no use to Wong, as Lee makes it clear.
Wong meets Nae-kyung outside the university, asking for help, but she just drives away. Meanwhile, Hwa-ran's men come and take Wong away, demanding Wong for money and feeding him ice. He promises to return the money soon since he expects to obtain a huge amount.
Next in the episode, Nae-kyung visits Chief Choi at the police station and tries to convince him to coordinate with her for the release of the hospital director's son. Surprisingly for them, Lee shows up and asks about the rumor about the director's son being released. Lee mentions that he comes from an economically rich background and, hence, is disqualified from being released on parole on the condition of employment. Nae-kyun confirms that it is only a rumor.
Eung-jun also approaches Nae-kyung to help with the parole of Chairman Ji, and she hopes to get some help from them, too. Lee, visiting Wong, tells him that Nae-Kyung has decided to cut ties with him. Lee also plays a recording of her claiming that she does not know Wong. He is confident that Wong has a video record of his discussions with Nae-kyung, which he does.
Next, Lee presents himself in Nae-kyung's class as a guest lecturer, gives a lecture about how some parole examiners abuse their power, and gives the example of Nae-kyung without revealing her name. Meanwhile, someone is secretly recording the class.
In this episode of Parole Examiner Lee, Hwa-ran visits Wong in jail and asks him to pay her back her money unless he wants trouble inside the prison. She suggests he sell the factory to settle the debt.
Lee visits a worker from the factory and tells him that Wong is in detention and another person has bought the factory. When asked about the working conditions in the factory, the worker reveals that they are treated like slaves and are not paid their wages. Also, Bok-gyu, wanting to buy his grandson a gift, rebelled and asked Wong for his money. This results in him being framed for theft.
In this episode of Parole Examiner Lee, Jeong-ho, Bok-gyu's son, visits him in the hospital. Jeong-ho brings his son, who thanks Bok-gyu for his toy plane, as well. Lee visits Jeong-ho and explains the situation. The toy plane Bok-gyu made is found in his quarters.
Eung-jun visits Lee and warns him to stop getting in the way of Chairman Ji's parole, mentioning Su-beom. Lee tries to meet Su-beom in prison, but Su-beom refuses to meet him. Earlier, Eung-jun visited Su-beom and told him to live quietly after mentioning that Lee had been causing trouble for them.
Ji Myung-seob returns to South Korea in episode 5 of Parole Examiner Lee. Dong-hun escorts him to Chairman Ji's office. Myung-seob sends flowers to Won-mi, saying that he will meet her soon. A frustrated Won-mi lets out a scream and starts crying.
Chairman Ji meets Myung-seob and tells him not to cause any trouble and to stay quiet for a while. He asks Eung-jun if there has been any trouble, and he denies it. Next, he visits Jeong-hak and asks for the evidence he has been hiding. Jeong-hak claims that Myung-seob will kill him if he hands it over and even threatens to release it. This angers Ji Myung-seob, and he decides it is time for Jeong-hak to die.
This episode of Parole Examiner Lee ends with Jeong-hak's body being found in a car.
