tvN's legal drama Parole Examiner Lee debuted on November 18, 2024, at 8:50 PM KST, offering a gripping exploration of the high-pressure world of parole hearings. The series tackles ethical dilemmas and the power struggles within a flawed judicial system. Directed by Yoon Sang-ho and penned by Park Chi-hyung, Parole Examiner Lee presents a thought-provoking narrative of corruption and moral conflict.

Go Soo leads as Lee Han-shin, a principled parole judge battling systemic corruption and personal challenges. Baek Ji-won portrays Choi Hwa-ran, a formidable private loan tycoon, while Girls' Generation's Yuri stars as Ahn Seo-yun, a sharp detective in the Violent Crimes Investigation Unit. Completing the main cast, Lee Hak-joo takes on the role of Ji Myung-seob, a privileged chaebol heir and the story's central antagonist.

In this episode of Parole Examiner Lee, Heo Eun-ji is released on parole but Lee and Seo-yun have a bigger challenge as Myung-seob sues Seo-yun while trying to partner with Lee.


Parole Examiner Lee Episode 8: Seo-yun investigates Jeong-hak's murder

In episode 8 of Parole Examiner Lee, Dong-hun informs Myung-seob about Lee and Seo-yun and how they both stopped the parole of Chairman Ji. Myung-seob visits Lee and threatens him but also tells him that he prefers his father be imprisoned for life and not be released on parole.

Eun-ji's parole review date arrives. Dong-hun shows up at the parole review as an examiner. Eun-ji presents her case and as instructed by Lee, she tries to appeal to their emotions but Dong-hun makes fun of her. Lee intervenes and mentions that she has earned the license of a culinary chef to which Dong-hun responds that she did so after betting on the parole review list.

Lee also mentions that her punishment exceeds the crime she committed. Lee argues that they should at least try to change the life of Su-ah, Eun-ji's daughter. With three qualified opinions and two disqualified opinions, it was decided that Su-ah would be released on parole. Dong-hun having seen Su-ah on the internet before the parole could not bring himself to give a disqualified opinion. Eun-ji thanks Hwa-ran and Lee for their help.

Eun-ji cooks a meal for Hwa-ran and her men to thank them. Hwa-ran visits one of her previous debtors who is successfully running a business and asks her for a favor. She requests her to employ Eun-ji.

Dong-hun and Myung-seob visit the police station in Parole Examiner Lee to inform Seo-yun that they have filed a defamation case against her. However, Seo-yun is unfazed. She calls Lee to discuss something. Lee and Seo-yun visit the restaurant where Eun-ji works. Hwa-ran also shows up since Lee invited her too. Seo-yun decides to trust Hwa-ran and reveals that she believes Jeong-hak's death to be a murder.

She mentions an unregistered car in which Jeong-hak was found. They seek help from Hwa-ran, who takes them to an unregistered car seller. She gives him the picture of the car Seo-yun mentioned and asks him to find out who bought it.

Lee meets Chief Park, who gets him a list of people who visited Su-beom. There, he finds the name of Eung-jun and brings it to the attention of Park that he is the Chief Secretary of Ojung Group. He also questioned why Su-beom visited Eung-jun though he rejected their visitations.

The unregistered car seller believes the car was bought from a junkyard and a fake license plate was then attached. Hwa-ran gets information about the junkyard from the seller. Seo-yun visits the junkyard where Hwa-ran is already trying to find some information. Though the person there does not have the contact of the buyer, Seo-yun figures there would be some secret way of contacting them.

After getting the buyer to the junkyard, Seo-yun and Ji-mok try to catch him. While he is trying to escape, Hwa-ran and her men stop him. They bring him to the police station for investigation.

Lee receives a call from Hwa-ran informing him that they successfully caught the buyer. The two decide to meet to discuss a few things.

Seo-yun interrogates the buyer. As a part of her plan, Ji-mok calls her during the interrogation and she pretends to have found an important clue. By doing this, she gets the buyer to reveal that the evidence Jeong-hak had was a video in episode 8 of Parole Examiner Lee.

Myung-seob meets Won-mi and asks if she has dropped her charges against Chairman Ji in episode 8 of Parole Examiner Lee. After reminding her of how he used to beat her, he proposes they get revenge together. Won-mi recalls the murder Myung-seob had committed and asks him to look out for himself and behave.

In a flashback, Myung-seob checking out girls at a club. After choosing a girl (Seo-yun's sister), Myung-seob has Jeong-hak bring her to him. Myung-seob tells her he wants to chitchat and that she can leave whenever she wants to. She asks for some water and Myung-seob pours her a glass. After having the water, she starts feeling dizzy. She decides to leave but is unable to.

She tries to get up and leave again but Myung-seob stops her and she protests. In anger, he grabs her by her hair and throws her to the ground. Hitting her head on the table, she dies on the spot. Myung-hak then calls Eung-jun to check the situation. He asks him to clean up the situation, takes his car, and leaves. As he is under the influence, he also causes an accident on his way.

In this episode of Parole Examiner Lee, Seo-yun narrates this story and tells Lee that she has asked for an arrest warrant but Lee believes she would not receive a warrant since she only has circumstantial evidence. Seo-yun is reminded again of how her sister did not get justice. Myung-seob was unapologetic and unafraid of the consequences. Seo-yun was removed from the case later.

Lee tells her about Su-beom and reveals that Myung-seob had met him with an offer. He wanted Lee to keep Chairman Ji in prison and in return, he would help him develop a strategy that would be a win-win for them both. Lee plans to use Myung-seob to his advantage and he also expects Myung-seob to do the same. Seo-yun extends her support.

She calls Myung-seob and tells him that she has captured Lim Jeong-gyun, the buyer of the unregistered car. Chairman Ji is furious and decides to strike Su-beom. An inmate spikes Su-beom's drink and then hits him on the head. Su-beom has to be rushed to an outside hospital. When he wakes up, he sees Lee waiting for him. With this, episode 8 of Parole Examiner Lee ends.


The next episode of Parole Examiner Lee is scheduled to be released on December 16.
