Perfect Family episode 10 recap: How did Hyeon-min creep into Jin-hyuk's life?

Perfect Family premiered on KBS2 on August 14, 2024, quickly capturing viewers with its intense and suspenseful plot. The series airs every Wednesday and Thursday at 9:50 pm KST, and is available for streaming on Viki and Viu in select areas.

The show features Kim Byung-chul as Choi Jin-hyuk, Yoon Se-ah as Ha Eun-ju, and Park Ju-hyun as Choi Seon-hae. The series is directed by Yukisada Isao and is based on the popular webtoon by Nyangpa and Joo Eun. The story of Perfect Family revolves around Choi Jin-hyeok, his wife Ha Eun-ju, and their daughter Sun-hui. Their seemingly perfect lives begin to fall apart when a murder case emerges.

In episode 10 of Perfect Family, viewers find out how Jin-hyuk's life got intertwined with Hyeon-min's. After meeting Jin-hyuk at the prosecutor's office, Hyeon-min gained his sympathy and took advantage of it, even using his daughter for the purpose.

Perfect Family episode 10 recap: Jin-hyuk tries to help Hyeon-min

Episode 10 of Perfect Family starts with Hyeon-min (Yoon Sang-hyun) visiting Jin-hyuk at the prosecutor's office. At the hospital where Jin-hyuk is getting treated after being smacked on the head by Hyeon-min, they meet again. This time, Hyeon-min has brought Sun-hui along and Jin-hyuk is present with his family, Eun-ju and his son, Sang-ho.

As they sit to have a chat, Hyeon-min tells him that he has a peanut allergy and that even a small dose can be fatal. He proceeds to talk about his family's poor condition and how he has started selling insurance but is unable to make enough. Since he has to go for a check-up, he asks Jin-hyuk to look after Sun-hui while he is gone. Seeing Sang-ho and Sun-hui get along well, Jin-hyuk agrees.

The viewers see Hyeon-min willing to put Sun-hui's life in danger in this episode of Perfect Family. Instead of going for a check-up, he gets some snacks for the kids and makes sure to include a chocolate bar with peanuts in it. As Sun-hui eats the bar, she faints and has to be hospitalized. Gaining their sympathy again, Hyeon-min talks about how he can barely afford the hospital fees.

To help him, Jin-hyuk decides to sign up for the insurance. He also convinces his colleagues for the same. Hyeon-min shows up at Eun-ju's counseling center next for his therapy. He even brings her flowers, and Eun-ju invites him over for dinner.

Meanwhile, using Jin-hyuk's business card, Hyeon-min takes money from a group of people. At dinner, Hyeon-min tears up about Sun-hui not having a mother. Jin-hyuk decides to sign up his family for insurance as well and help Hyeon-min out. Jin-hyuk's colleague is suspicious of Hyeon-min, but the former brushes it off, saying they should be more helpful.

The group of people he had fooled, pretending to be a prosecutor, turned out to be gang members. They take him and beat him up, only to find out that he had spent all his money on betting. Moreover, all the insurance papers had his name as the beneficiary, since he and Jin-hyuk shared the same name. Even Sun-hui had insurance in her name.

In this episode of Perfect Family, Hyeon-min goes home to take Sun-hui and leaves his ill mother, who is now doubtful of his intentions. He takes her to the shore but is unable to push her. The gang members are keeping an eye on them throughout. Meanwhile, Jin-hyuk arrives with his family, and they go fishing on a boat.

At the fishing spot, Sang-ho gets busy trying to catch a fish and Hyeon-min takes Sun-hui away to push her into the ocean. As he is trying to get himself to finish the work, Sang-ho calls them for food. Here, Jin-hyuk and Hyeon-min have a conversation where Jin-hyuk reminds him to live for Sun-hui just like he is living for Sang-ho. Later, Hyeon-min gets beaten up again by the gang.

At his office, Jin-hyuk's colleagues come to him with a problem and he asks them to give Hyeon-min one more chance. Just then, Hyeon-min calls Jin-hyuk to show him his new office. Jin-hyuk asks why Hyeon-min illegally transferred the insurance money into his account. He threatened to take legal action if he did not return the money.

Back at home, sensing something was off, Eun-ju tries to talk to Jin-hyuk. He tells her that Hyeon-min might not be the person they believed him to be and narrates the story of his younger brother. He would often get into fights at school and eventually, their mother stopped believing anything he said.

While Jin-hyuk knew that he was getting bullied, he chose to keep quiet, and one day, his brother died in an accident at the school. Jin-hyuk felt responsible for his death and even resented his mother.

Hyeon-min gets beaten up yet again for being unable to arrange the money by killing his mother or daughter. He asks for a few more days. The next day, he takes Sun-hui and visits Sang-ho at his school. He asks for help and takes him to his office where he sells paint. Episode 10 of Perfect Family ends here.
