On June 13, a few fans allegedly tried to kiss BTS’ Jin at the 2024 FESTA event, which led to criticism from the domestic and global fanbase of the group. On June 18, the Seoul Songpa Police Station confirmed starting a preliminary investigation on the alleged charges of s*xual harassment.

Videos and clips taken by fans during the 2024 FESTA event show Jin greeting fans with light hugs and handshakes. However, some fans were allegedly seen attempting to kiss The Astronaut singer without his permission.

According to Ten Asia, a South Korean media agency, the Seoul Songpa Police Station stated on June 18 that they had begun an investigation before filing a case regarding the s*xual harassment allegations. The police department will first hear Jin's perspective on the incident through his agency, BIGHIT MUSIC. They stated:

"The BTS Jin case is in the investigation stage before being booked. The victim's wishes are important, so we are in contact with his agency."

On June 13, the 2024 FESTA event commemorating BTS’ 11th debut anniversary took place at the Jamsil Arena in Jamsil Sports Complex, Songpa-gu, Seoul, South Korea. This was the first in-person event led by Jin, following his military discharge on June 12, after fulfilling his national duties for over one year and six months.

The first session of 2024 FESTA “Jin’s Greetings” commenced at 3 p.m. KST, which was not streamed live, however, fans were allowed to use cameras in the venue. The event went almost smoothly, and most fans greeted the K-pop idol officially, following the rules. However, some fans’ actions and behavior towards the BTS member drew criticism online.

According to a report by Newsis, the Seoul Songpa Police Station received a civil complaint on June 14 regarding the incident where a few fans allegedly tried to kiss Jin. The complaint was filed against the fans based on breaching Article 11 of the S*xual Violence Punishment Act, ‘Indecent Conduct in Public Places.’

On June 18, the police department stated that a preliminary investigation had begun and Jin's management agency's cooperation was necessary to file a case and identify the perpetrators. They added:

"I think we need to first listen to Jin's opinion, review it, and make a decision. If he can come, we need to hear his doctor's opinion, and if not, we need to check again what his position is."

Notably, Jin and BigHit Music have yet to make an official statement regarding the incident involving the alleged s*xual assault controversy.

Meanwhile, in the second session of the 2024 FESTA event, Jin performed some of his popular solo tracks like Moon, The Astronaut, and Super Tuna. He also showed his moves on Jungkook's Seven by doing the infamous dance challenge. He participated in the “Cat Walking on the Frozen Han River” Challenge.

Additionally, the singer did a live version of his popular V Live show called Eat Jin, a Mukbang session, receiving cheers from fans as this marked its first time in four years. The BTS member conducted Eat Jin regularly through live streaming on V Live and Weverse, however, he stopped doing it in 2020.
